Meet Podo, the World’s First Stick & Shoot Camera

As much of a fan as I am of the “selfie stick” for getting photos when I travel solo, I’m also a fan of awesome new travel gear products, like the Podo camera. Dubbed the “World’s First Stick & Shoot Camera”, this little camera does exactly what its name infers; allows you to stick it to almost any surface, and shoot a photo that you can actually be in, without a selfie-stick.

You may be wondering how many times the sticky pad lasts for, or what the quality of images is with the Podo camera, right? So after testing it out in India, as well as doing thorough research on the interesting little camera, I’ve come up with a guide for anyone interested in getting one.

Oh! And speaking of which! I just gave away 5 Podo cameras on my Instagram, and will be doing another giveaway in August! And! If you’re itching to get your hands on one ASAP, they’ve also given me a coupon code for 20% off (they’re only about $100), just use the password: MYLIFESAMOVIE 🙂

Here’s how to use the Podo camera in 5 easy steps:

1. Charge your Podo camera for up to 1 hour

Podo comes with its own USB charging chord, and doesn’t take long at all to charge.

2.  Simply tap the Podo camera to turn it on!

I thought this was SUPER cool; all you have to do to turn the camera on, is give it a few taps! The ring around the camera lens will light up to indicate that it’s on.

3. Connect your Podo camera to the Podo App

While your Podo camera is charging, download the Podo App to your phone via the AppStore or GooglePlay. Then after you turn it on, simply connect the app via Bluetooth!

*NOTE: the images on the preview may seem blurry or pixelated, but the end photo or video is very clear, it just needs to be processed!

4. Stick the Podo camera to a surface using its sticky pad

The back flap of the camera has a sticky pad for temporary adhesion and use with quick shots, and also a powerful magnet for longer videos and time-lapse shots. The sticky pad is very interesting, because it can be wiped clean with water, dried, and re-sticky-fied for multiple uses.

It sticks to pretty much anything, and the back flap that it’s on can be swiveled, angled, and adjusted in order to capture your shot.

*CAUTION: The sticky pad is VERY sticky! So don’t stick it to delicate surfaces, especially painted ones, and don’t press it as hard as you can to make it stick!

5. Get in the photo, and shoot!

Once you have your camera angled and ready to go, simply get in the photo, preview the shot on your phone with the app, and shoot! You can then see the photo or video a couple seconds later, and download it directly to your phone!

One of the really cool things I also noticed about this camera was that it doesn’t have any buttons; it’s fully controlled by your phone and a simple tap to turn it on, and it turns itself off after 40 seconds if you’re not using it! It also doesn’t require an SD card since you download photos directly to your phone!
