Seattle is a vibrant, iconic city that’s known for its urban attractions, neutral beauty, and international influence. Suppose you’re new to traveling or you want to explore a city that is tourist-friendly and easy to navigate. In that case, Seattle is the ideal location, whether you’re a first-timer, a foodie, an adventurer, or traveling with your family in tow.

Getting to and around Seattle is incredibly easy, so those who feel nervous about getting from A to B will certainly be able to make the most of Seattle’s public transport and easy-to-navigate streets. If you want to drive around yourself then Seattle airport car hire is also a straightforward option! Let’s take a closer look at some of the best things to do in Seattle that all first-timers will love!

Take a Trip to the Iconic Space Needle

The symbol of the city and a must-visit for any new arrival, no trip to Seattle is complete without a trip to the iconic Space Needle. Standing at an impressive 605 feet tall, the Space Needle showcases futuristic architecture that offers incredible 360-degree views from its observation deck, which now incorporates The Loupe, the world’s first rotating glass floor!

If you want to marvel at the breathtaking views of the Seattle Skyline and the majestic peaks of Mount Rainer or even the Olympic Mountains in the far distance then this is a must-see. Don’t forget to bring your camera to capture those impressive views! Remember to book your tickets in advance to ensure you won’t be disappointed.

The oldest and continually operating market in the whole of the United States, Pike Place Market is a world-famous public market that draws millions of visitors every year, making it the perfect place to explore on your first visit and soak up the lively atmosphere.

The famous fish-throwing vendors at Pike Place Market are renowned for their showmanship, throwing freshly caught seafood through the air to impress the crowds. Not only will this keep you entertained but you’ll also find an amazing array of food stalls, artisan goods, fresh produce, and even the original Starbucks!

If you’re a food lover then you’re in for a real treat. Here you can sample world-famous clam chowder, indulge in seafood dishes such as smoked salmon, and treat yourself to some freshly baked pastries.

First-time visitors who are looking for somewhere to soak in the atmosphere, relax, or enjoy a slower pace might enjoy a trip to the Seattle Aquarium and a stroll along the waterfront. This picturesque destination offers beautiful views of Elliot Bay and the surrounding areas so it’s bursting with coastal charm.

If you want to try something a little different then how about a ride on the Seattle Great Wheel? It’s one of the largest Ferris Wheels on the West Coast, so you can expect the views to be utterly breathtaking. There are also plenty of shops along the waterfront so why not indulge in a little shopping after your descent? You’ll find art, plenty of souvenirs, and hand-crafted goods. If you have your family in tow then why not head to the Seattle Aquarium? There are plenty of interactive exhibits that will keep kids – and big kids – entertained for a few hours as well as an opportunity to learn more about the marine life of the Pacific Northwest.

The coffee capital of America, Seattle has a long history with coffee and is certainly proud of its reputation! We’ve already mentioned that visitors can visit the very first Starbucks in the US, over at Pike Place Market, but there are plenty of other coffee-themed activities to try.

The city boasts coffee-tasting tours that provide an insight into Seattle’s relationship with coffee and the coffee-making process. The coffee culture in Seattle is something you can easily immerse yourself in, and who knows you might find a new favorite!

Check Out Seattle’s Museums

Seattle is steeped in a rich and vibrant history that has plenty to offer for history buffs and pop culture enthusiasts alike. The Museum of Pop Culture is one attraction that shouldn’t be missed, here you’ll find dozens of interesting exhibits dedicated to famous musicians, science fiction displays, horror films, and video games – it’s a must for pop culture enthusiasts!

If you prefer to explore Seattle’s art world, then the Seattle Art Museum should also be on your list. Here you’ll find a blend of classic and contemporary art but also historical artifacts and modern installations. If you’re on a budget then you might be able to take advantage of free museum days which are offered by many attractions in the city, so don’t be put off if your budget is modest

Seattle comes alive after dark. With areas like Capitol Hil; buzzing with energy, rooftop bars, trendy pubs, and live music venues that showcase local talent. If you prefer nightclubs and cocktail bars then head to Belltown where you’ll be spoilt for choice!

Seattle and seafood go hand in hand so if you’re looking for somewhere to go for dinner then celebrated restaurants like The Pink Door offer freshly caught oysters, salmon, and other seafood in abundance, or if you prefer something more international then you’ll also find everything from Sushi to Ethiopian street food here.

Final Thoughts…

If you’re planning a trip to Seattle then you’ll have no problem filling your itinerary with attractions and experiences. Which one would you try first?
