According to their report, Thanksgiving travel has historically resulted in approximately 20% of travelers going international while 80% stay domestic. Data recorded in late October 2019 is consistent with this trend, although international bookings are slightly higher at around 26%, with domestic flights accounting for 74% of bookings.

While Cancun, Mexico is usually the most popular international destination around this time of year, it’s been taken out by London, England in 2019. Some may say this is because of the Meghan (Markle) effect, but CheapOair’s data shows that this is likely due to a 20% decrease in airfare pricing since 2017.

In fact, according to Tom Spagnola, the “top international destinations for Thanksgiving have dropped in airfare prices by an average of 14%.” Meaning more opportunities to be a little adventurous in your Thanksgiving travel for 2019, while scoring the best travel deals.

For the top 10 international destinations for Thanksgiving in 2019, you’re looking at an average roundtrip airfare of $655.

Looking for the best travel deal? The cheapest destinations are Mexico City, Mexico ($350), Cancun, Mexico ($473), and Paris, France ($570). Amsterdam in the Netherlands isn’t too far behind either, with an average roundtrip fare of $573.
