My Holiday Love Poem to JetBlue

Getting a good airline is a huge hit or miss,

But right now it’s JetBlue that I could metaphorically kiss.

My red-eye was cancelled and most people were mad,

But since I didn’t want to leave Peru yet, I was far from sad.

Sure, it was Christmas, in just five short days,

But after how long it took me to get there, I wasn’t ready to part ways.

So instead of crying about leaving or a sudden cancelled flight,

I jumped for joy on the glorious complimentary Starwood Sheraton bed all night.

Three nights of camping, two countries, and four over-night buses,

And one canceled flight that showed how real wanderlust is.

Although I was grateful for the first hot shower in weeks,

I hoped the flight wouldn’t be re-scheduled, as you can see in my Tweets.

I knew for sure if I stayed that my mom would be pissed,

But since my whole family follows me anyway, it’s hard to be missed!

Alas! Ring, ring! Said the hotel room phone,

“Your flight is at nine!”, “Thank you!” I said with a groan.

So SloMo I moved, hoping I’d yet again have to stay,

But although it was 2 hours late, I was finally on my way.

I touched down in Florida, and breezed through TSA,

That’s what you get with Global Entry, what else can I say?

But although I made it home for Christmas, I still moped and I pouted,

Because I really did hope that my JetBlue flight would be re-routed.

So instead of wrapping presents, I sat and I researched the next cheap flight,

And on the eighth browser refresh,  I saw an email that made my whole night!

“We’re sorry for the inconvenience,” said the opening line from JetBlue,

“So to make up for it, here’s a complete roundtrip flight credit for you!”

My eyeballs bulged out and my jaw hit the floor,

I literally had to contain myself from running out the door!

My biggest heartbreak was not being able to afford a flight back,

But thanks to JetBlue I’ll be in South America ASAP!

I Tweeted my love poem to JetBlue, and guess what! They wrote me a poem too! Check it out 🙂
