If you’re looking for the perfect trip this summer, you’ll love this post on how to plan an adventure luxury vacation in Riviera Maya!
There are plenty of hotel resorts in Riviera Maya, but one that stands out is the Barceló Maya Caribe. Not only is it a luxury spa hotel and an all-inclusive resort, but it’s extremely close to some of the most epic adventures in the area! Plus it’s about midway between Playa del Carmen and Tulum! Two super fun cities!
Here’s how to plan your adventure-luxury vacation in Riviera Maya at Barceló Maya Caribe!
You’ll first need a flight to Cancun in order to get to Barceló Maya Caribe. Then you can either take the ATO bus, hire a taxi, arrange a shuttle from the hotel, or rent a car. If you’re planning on doing some exploring, I’d say rent a car, but be aware there is a hidden mandatory insurance fee in Mexico!
If you’re planning to just hang at this beautiful spa hotel in Riviera Maya, you can opt for the taxi or shuttle! If you want to save some money and take the bus, you will likely need to take it to Playa del Carmen, then get a taxi from there.
Barceló Maya Caribe hotel has tons of amazing amenities and activities! From a spa and wellness center, to a bowling alley! Since it’s right on the white sandy beach of the Caribbean, you might not want to spend much time in your room. That is, unless you opt for one of the swim up rooms with a private swimming pool!
There are also several restaurants on site, which you can dine at al-a-carte, or choose the all-inclusive option. If you’re looking for an all inclusive resort in Mexico for a vacation, this is definitely a good option!
I lived in Playa del Carmen for six months, and explored the area that Barceló Maya Caribe hotel is in extensively! There’s definitely a lot of fun activities to do there!
In fact, it’s located right near some of my favorite cenotes, like Cenote Azul and Casa Cenote. It’s also about 30 minutes away from Playa del Carmen and also to Tulum! In Playa you can find a lot of fun bars, beach clubs, and tons of great (and affordable!) restaurants. Or you can take the ferry to Cozumel for the day and go snorkeling at the many vibrant reefs.
In Tulum you can head to a beach club if you’re looking for something sceney. If you want to learn about the ancient culture of the area, you should definitely check out the Tulum Ruins, and if you have time, Coba, and/or Chichen Itza!
So if you’re looking for a spa hotel in Riviera Maya, or an all inclusive resort in Mexico that’s near lots of adventures, be sure to check out Barcelo!

Chichen Itza was a cool place to visit! We've been meaning to get back down to Playa del Carmen one day and appreciate the recommendation on where to stay.
Yesss! I loved living in Playa!
