Meet the Perfect Guy For the Girl Who Travels

Let’s call him Casper, because like the ghost, I don’t see him anywhere.

[Disclaimer: Before I go on another little rant, please keep in mind that these are my opinions — I’m sure there are tons of great guys out there, and I’m sure tons of traveling girls have great men, I’m just sayin’….if I could create the perfect guy for a girl who loves to travel, like myself, this is how I’d imagine he would be.]

I’m such a great artist. I know.

Part of why I travel solo is because I haven’t found that “Pegasus” of a guy (let’s change his name to Pegasus instead of Casper…I’m an optimist after all) to run wild with my unicorn travel habits, and who can also handle my other habits, like being a serial entrepreneur/workaholic, and insanely independent/free-spirited. I also have no patience for waiting to travel, so I’ll go alone anyway until I happen to find him.

I thought I found him a couple times, but typically with my luck, he either lives in another country, has his own travel plans, or has some sort of baggage holding him back from traveling the world with me…and not the kind you take on the plane.

I’m also guilty of being extremely picky, cautious, and guarded. I know I’m weird, but like they say, “you have to be odd to be number one”. That being said, I also don’t mind being number one in my life, so until I happen to find this mystery Pegasus man, I’ll just continue to spend time with my one true love…Travel! But let’s take a look at what key qualities Pegasus has, just in case he’s really out there…

According to me, Pegasus is:

1. Trustworthy

I’ll admit, I’ve been lied to and screwed over by guys (and friends), and I’ve also experienced tons of situations where people try to screw me over with business or sales deals as well. All of that has resulted in me believing that you can’t trust anyone.

Unfortunately, trust is ESSENTIAL for a relationship with a girl who travels a lot, like me, because distance is probably going to be a factor, and ain’t no body got time to be worry about what a guy is doing back home while you’re in Africa! Pegasus is always trustworthy, whether it’s with faithfulness, secrets, or advice, and he knows he can trust his unicorn as well.

2. Motivational

Pegasus motivates his unicorn to keep traveling

Not everyone thinks it’s normal for a girl to want to just go off traveling all the time…or that she can actually make it happen. That’s why it’s important for Pegasus to be motivational when it comes to encouraging travel plans, and ideas on how to make them happen. It’s nice to hear that what you’re doing is awesome or impressive sometimes!

3. Not a Dick

That is the face of a guy who is not a dick. I can just tell.

I couldn’t find an appropriate word to describe this trait, but what I’m trying to say, is that Pegasus is nice, not just to you, but to everyone as well. For some reason, some guys are rude to girls or mistreat them, whether it’s because that’s how they are, or because they believe that “girls don’t like nice guys”.

Well unicorns (traveling girls) don’t have time for games, and Pegasus knows that. He doesn’t have a mean bone in his body, and is always nice to his unicorn as well as everyone around him….unless they are a dick. Since he’s nice, that means he’s also a happy person. And happy people are just so much more awesome to be around.

4. Extremely Communicative

Sometimes words aren’t even necessary to communicate!

You know all that bullshit you go through when you first start dating someone and you don’t want to seem too available? Well Pegasus doesn’t play that game. He knows how important it is to be available to communicate when his unicorn is traveling solo, or when he’s with her 24/7 if they’re traveling together. The number one cause of over-thinking is lack of communication. And Pegasus knows that.

5. A Partner in Crime

Enough said.

There is something truly unique about a relationship that involves two people who travel together. You become not just lovah’s, but best friends as well. You depend on each other, and work together as a team. You go on adventures, encourage each other’s crazy ideas, and have a hell of a fun time together at all times.

Pegasus knows how unique his unicorn is, which is why he’s perfect to run wild with! Now if only finding a Pegasus were as easy as being able to ever catch a unicorn…

  • Alyssa; First of all, I can't tell you how much I love/can relate to your blog/page. I love the of the articles that you have wrote and love the fact that there seems to be a female version of myself out there!

A few quick questions for you; If you don't mind answering!

    - I love the points you have made here about qualities that you look for in a significant other; Has the idea of falling for someone with a completely different nationality than your own ever crossed your mind? (Opening up the opportunity for dual passports?)

    - Do you ever plan/when are you planning to tick Europe off the list? (I guess you are based in LA? - Ever thought of making the big move to the UK, basing yourself there while getting lost with the endless cheap travelling opportunities which it has to offer?)

    • Hi Eliot! Sorry for the extremely late reply lol (that's what traveling does to you!, but thank you! And to answer your questions, I am actually coming to Europe in February to do a story called "Where in the World is Mr. Right", where I'll be hopping around "looking for love" lol! I will hopefully make it to the UK towards the middle of Feb!

  • I found my Pegasus, yours is real as well. Don't settle. Don't lose hope. Don't stop doing you. You two will meet when the time is right.

  • Wow - I think it's great you know what you want!
I don't think that comes so easy for most people.
Also, from a personal perspective, it's great to know there is someone out there with unicorn travel habits. Had come to believe they didn't exist, either.

  • Traveling is one of the best thing in the world, and also the best way to find your Pegasus, keep going ! And good luck !

  • Thanks to your article, you have given me strength to continue being myself. Greetings from Norway traveling alone :)
