Vinoteque on Melrose

The open-air patio with a black and white movie playing against the back wall creates an electrifying ambience.

Unless you’re a Melrose neighborhood local, or an extremely keen eyed pedestrian, chances are you haven’t heard of Vinoteque on Melrose. I myself found this fabulously quaint wine restaurant while walking my dog who pulled me into the narrow alleyway lined with “love locks” that leads into a charismatic patio surrounded by four, two-story buildings.

Green foliage covers the brick wall on the left, and herbs, vegetables, and flowers grow in the wooden troths below it. The brick floor and black lattice metal patio furniture gives Vintoeque a Parisian vibe, and the old black and white classic movies that are projected on the back wall enhance the romantic ambience. The open air patio is referred to as their #urbanoasis aka their open-air-herb-lined-patio, a true sanctuary in the heart of Hollywood.

My favorite dish to order is the cheese plate and a wine flight!

Of course the scenery is just part of the whimsical experience, the highlight of Vinoteque is its food and wine! They have an extensive selection of wines to choose from and a highly wine-educated staff to help you pick one out. They also offer wine flights for the curious palate, which comes with either five different whites, five different reds, or a seasonal collection of both.

To pair with your wine selection, they offer family-style servings from either their lunch, happy hour (yes, that’s right, there’s a happy hour), dinner, or late night menus with a wide assortment of gourmet options from cheese boards to Bacalao Bruschetta. Servings are small so it’s encouraged to order a few for the table.

If you’re on a date, the staff will give you a complimentary lock and key to add to the many love locks that line the entryway.

Whether you go with a group of friends and sip and laugh lightheartedly in the comfortable patio cabana, or go with a special someone and lock a complimentary love lock on the chains in the entryway, the staff and owners at Vinoteque will be sure to make your experience memorable. After all, their motto is, “Family, Friends, Food, Wine, that is what we do.”
