Wolfgang’s Steakhouse, Beverly Hills

Wolfgang’s Steakhouse

by Alyssa Ramos

It’s typically a given that any steakhouse in Beverly Hills is guaranteed to be divine, and Wolfgang’s Steakhouse was no exception. Although it was chosen because it was one of the only places available on Open Table the day after Valentine’s Day when my date and I decided that Santa Monica was too far to drive to, I’m always excited to experience a new restaurant in LA. A few things to note — First off, although it holds the esteemed name, Wolfgang, it is not in fact a Wolfgang Puck restaurant but famed New York restaurant owner, Wolfgang Zweiner . Secondly, it’s a steakhouse, and I’m a vegetarian, and even I  thought the food was amazing!

Wolfgang’s Steakhouse

Situated on Canon Drive, just South of Santa Monica Blvd., Wolfgang’s Steakhouse exudes the expected grandiose appearance of a Beverly Hills restaurant.  It’s interior showcases typical steak-house decor consisting of dark wood floors, a fully stocked bar, and a bustling dining room equipped with white-linen covered tables and warmly dim lighting. After having a mixology cocktail at the bar made with Absolut Mandarin and jalapeños, we were led to a table with a prime view of Canon Drive to our right, the sceney dining room to our left, and the classic sounds coming from the piano player in front.

After making our selections; steamed little neck clams to start, a Cesar salad to split, steamed Chilean Sea Bass for me, and the ibeye for my date, the obviously highly skilled server easily repeated our orders without needing to write them down. Although I looked rather elegant in my backless black sequined dress and black strappy Christian Louboutin heels, there was no holding me back from demolishing the steamed clams. They were that good. Of course the server paired my selections with a delicious, crisp glass of Krug Chardonnay, which complimented the buttery flavors of the clams and fish.

My dish was a massive piece of Chilean Sea Bass that flaked apart in buttery slices the second my fork touched it. It was simply seasoned with lemon, salt, and pepper, leaving it’s natural flavors to take the lead on taste. You may have experienced restaurants that serve expensive dishes that are obscenely tiny, but this was an expensive dish that I couldn’t even finish half of!

Although I didn’t actually try it, I definitely know that the ribeye was delicious as well judging by the ten minutes of silence from my date with only intermittent, “Oh my God, this is so good”‘s every now and then. There was nothing but a giant bone left on his plate by the end of dinner. Wolfgang’s Steakhouse definitely gets an A for food, service, and ambience!
