Top destinations that have a good USD exchange rate can really make or break a trip. After all, if you want to experience a trip of a lifetime in a top destination you want to make sure every dollar is working for you.

Visiting top destinations where the US dollar is strong is an easy way to save money. It also means you can travel to what might typically be an expensive top destination (e.g. Japan) without having to completely break the bank.

Here is a round up of the top destinations that have a good US dollar exchange rate. Add these to the top of your bucket list and get out there and explore asap!

Top Destination 1: Morocco

Don’t forget to book the best Sahara Desert tour while you’re there to make sure you have the most magical time in this natural African wonder.

As always, be sure to do your research before traveling to Morocco, including being mindful of safety tips. This is especially the case if you are a solo traveler.

Make the most of this excellent exchange rate and check out this top destination while you can!

Top Destination 2: South Africa

Exchange Rate: 1 United States Dollar = 13.80 South African Rand

South Africa is an amazing place to travel to and the ultimate top destination for nature lovers, animal enthusiasts and wanderlusters in general.

Cape Town is one of the most popular top destinations for travelers, with a hike up Lion’s Head, Camps Bay Strip and Clifton Beach as must see sites. Kruger National Park is also popular for travelers.

Don’t forget to check out some of the amazing wildlife via a safari, and if you’re feeling super adventurous check out somewhere like Muizenberg.

Be sure to check out this top destination while the exchange rate is so advantageous for US travelers.

Top Destination 3: India

Exchange Rate: 1 United States Dollar = 69 Indian Rupee

India is already an inexpensive country. So a good exchange rate will make your traveling experience in this top destination even better.

Known for its rich history and incredible sights, smells and sounds, India is a favourite destination for many travelers.

Be sure to explore the historic Taj Mahal, which is one of the 7 wonders of the world. And check out these tips if you want to get a photo in front of it without any other tourists in it.

The other most popular destinations in India include bustling New Delhi, royal Rajasthan and the beautiful blue city of Jodhpur.

Making the most of a good US exchange rate and traveling to India will guarantee that you have an epic sensory experience, that’s for sure!

Top Destination 4: Japan

Exchange Rate: 1 United States Dollar = 113 Japanese Yen

Japan is traditionally a more expensive top destination so making the most of exchange rates is important here.

Not only is the exchange rate favourable for US travelers, Japan has also recently been one of the cheapest international destinations to travel to from the US.

Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka are some of the most popular destinations in Japan, and you don’t want to miss out on taking in the views of Mt. Fuji. You could also wander off the beaten track and check out Wakayama, which is located an hour south of Osaka.

Pro tip: Japan is a great destination for solo female travelers.

Don’t wait too long to head over to Japan though. Exchange rates are anticipated to rise in 2019, ahead of the 2020 Olympic Games being hosted in Tokyo.

Top Destination 5: Indonesia

Exchange Rate: 1 United States Dollar = 14,320 Indonesian Rupiah

Indonesia is another inexpensive top destination to travel in, and you can travel there on cheap flights from the US by following this guide.

Bali is the most popular spot for travelers in Indonesia, and it’s easy to see why. It is full of beautiful beaches and villas and a ton of great photo opportunities.

Of course, being so popular means that some spots in Bali charge tourist prices. But, overall, it’s still a cheap place to visit, and you can still feel  like you’re balling on a budget while there.

Indonesia is also home to some stunning waterfalls to chase (despite what TLC said), and Flores Island which is home to the famous Komodo Island (aka, home of the Komodo Dragon).

So what are you waiting for?! Book your flights and pack your bags. It’s time to indulge in a luxury vacation, minus the luxury price tag, thanks to the excellent US exchange rate.

In addition to making the most of the excellent US exchange rate to check out one (or all) of these top destinations, you may also want to play some flight roulette to get your hands on some cheap airfares.

  • 2019 is the perfect year to visit Argentina! The exchange rate has changed drastically since last year, nearly making everything 50% cheaper. An example is a fancy cocktail, and a nice speakeasy cost $6 USD in Buenos Aires.

  • Thank you for sharing! This is how I have felt the last 5 months being on my big trip – the constant pressure to share and take pictures can take the joy of the moment! It’s good to know that someone has felt the exact same way!
