As expected, Halloween in Hollywood this year was another major production, especially for the Treats! Magazine party that happened last Friday at the historic Los Angeles Theater in Downtown LA. The star-studded event was also in partnership with Utsinger Entertainment, and sponsored by Absolut Elyx and Curbstand, occupied all three floors of the lux and likely-haunted theater, all of which were over-flowing with costumed guests and celebrities.
Like in an old fashioned film, the event name was prominently displayed on the bright white over-hang outside of the theater, which sheltered the long line of guests waiting to get in from the cliché rainy weather on Halloween night. Seriously though, the ONE night it rains in LA… Once inside, we were greeted by The Jingle Punks Hipster Orchestra playing spooky classical music atop the foyer stage.
Making our way into the party, we found some familiar faces socializing near one of the three bars, while others took a little longer to recognize through the makeup and costumes. With drinks in hand, we ventured down the wide, center banister that led to the middle floor, where there was a small area offering light food and snacks (not that anyone eats at a party like this), and beyond it, a ballroom that housed a white-glowing bar that stretched across the length of the room. Never having to wait in line for a drink was a major bonus.
But it was the bottom floor that all the buzz was about. I can’t decide if I was more impressed with the massive bathroom that looked like it belonged in a castle, or Boy George‘s DJing skills. There were literally fifty stalls, each with it’s own decatantly decorated walls, and doors that actually fully close. Before it, was a large circular powder room, with princess-looking vanities lining the entire thing, and a mixture of girls and guys checking on their makeup. That may not sound exciting for you, but for someone in full facial lion makeup, a skimpy costume that kept riding up in all the wrong places, and a bladder the size of an infant’s, I was in Halloween party heaven.
I guess I should try to redeem my bathroom banter by talking about what celebrities were there. For the most part, it was the usual party-going suspects, like Leonardo DiCaprio, Zac Efron, Paris Hilton, and Gerard Butler, but also in attendance was Ryan Seacrest, Robin Thicke, and a very sexy Kellan Lutz who dressed up as Snake Plisskin (totally had to Google that).
But it’s not like we were sitting there chatting it up with any of them or anything. They’re kind of just there, like endagered animals you see on safari; pretty to look at, but you leave them alone. It’s kind of just like, “Oh, there’s Leo…let’s go to the bar!” But I guess that’s also what living in Hollywood does to you.
The real fun is seeing all of your friends at a fabulous party, especially when costumes are involved and there’s no bathroom or bar line! I was slightly concerned when my phone died and I couldn’t find the friends I came with, or more importantly, have access to Uber, but luckily, all of West Hollywood was Downtown and heading back to the Hills where a few of the celebs were having after parties. Just your typical Halloween in Hollywood!
