Havana Nightlife – Fabrica de Arte y ‘Parisien’

All of the younger locals I’ve talked to have all recommended two places to go to at night – Casa de la Musica, or Fabrica de Arte. Some people will also recommend the Malicón at night, but it’s mostly for locals who go there to sit, talk, make out, etc., and unless you have a romantic partner to sit there and smooch with sans cell phone…it gets a bit boring after a while.

Sunday night we went to the ‘Parisien’ show at the Hotel Nacional – which was said to be even better than the Tropicana. It wasn’t, but it was still really entertaining, and we had a table right in the front where we were served…Cuba Libres…shocker…and either Mahi Mahi or chicken.

Dinner, drinks, and a show!

After the show we went to Fabrica de Arte, which means ‘Factory of Art’ in English. It’s named so because it’s an old olive oil factory that was converted into an art gallery/dance club. It’s pretty interesting — there’s modern art made by Cuban artists throughout the venue, and downstairs there’s a salsa dancing area, while upstairs there is more art on display.

I plan on going back there tonight if I can make my way back to my casa in time to use the house phone to call my other friends who are planning on going!
