As a full time traveler, and a full time travel blogger, I’m constantly in need of Wifi when I travel, and I’m happy to report that I’ve finally found an awesome solution with the Skyroam global wifi hotspot device! I’ve used the original Skyroam in India, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, Thailand, Japan, Singapore, Brazil, Argentina, Iceland, Vietnam and Indonesia, and can honestly say that I freaking LOVE IT.
No more scrounging around trying to pick up free airport or cafe wifi, or feeling helpless when you aren’t connected walking around. I’ve felt a lot more comfortable and less stressed than I usually am when I travel, all because I’m constantly connected to wifi when I need to be!

Now, Skyroam has rolled out with the next evolution of their amazing hotspot, the Skyroam Solis!
Not only does the Skyroam Solis give you a speedy 4G LTE mobile connectivity without a SIM, but it also has a built in power bank, with a long-lasting Tesla-type battery that stays powered for 16+ hours! I like to refer to it as my “mobile office”…all that’s missing is my laptop!
Speaking of my laptop, the new Skyroam Solis can share Wifi with up to 5 devices at once, which is perfect for when I’m doing one of my Group Trips, and my travelers need to stay connected! Just like the original Skyroam, there’s no service contract commitments, so you only pay for what you use, which you purchase in the form of day passes!
How Does Skyroam Work?
You might be thinking, “Why not just get a local SIM card” or “Why not just use free Wifi”, but trust me, I’ve traveled to about twenty countries using free wifi alone when I can find it, and using a Skyroam wifi hotspot device now makes a hell of a difference. PLUS! It picks up which country your in and turns on the service for that place on its own!
Here’s more information on this awesome little device!
Where does the wifi and data come from?
The easiest answer for this question is: You turn the Skyroam device on, you connect to its network on your phone or laptop using the network key and password that it comes with, and voila! You have unlimited data and wifi wherever you are for up to 5 devices.
For those of you that want the more technical answer: the Skyroam wifi hotspot uses a sweet new technology called a Virtual SIM which can connect to dozens of other cellular networks in 90+ countries, and picks them up automatically when you travel. After the Skyroam device picks up on the best network to connect to, it sends a message back to the servers, which then remotely delivers new SIM information to the Virtual SIM so that the Skyroam can connect to local cellular networks.
In a nutshell, it’s a universal SIM card that doesn’t require an unlocked phone, subscription, or hassle.
That being said, as long as there is local cell service in one of the 100+ countries that it’s currently available, you’ll be good to go with Skyroam wifi and unlimited data!
How much data do you get?
Skyroam functions on 24 Hour Day Passes that include unlimited global data and wifi for one flat fee. That means you don’t have to worry about running out of data, or going over your international data plan and having to pay insane fees. The way it works is by starting out with 4G data, and if you start to use a lot of it, it goes down to 3G, then 2.5G, but even at the lowest connection, it still works for messaging and browsing.
So far the data and wifi has been extremely good while I’ve been using my Skyroam wifi hotspot in India, even in remote places and on buses and trains. I’ve been using it to connect my iPhone, laptop, plus a friend’s phone and laptop too, which we’ve been using a lot to Snapchat, Instagram, or even do Facebook live or Periscope, and there’s still room for four additional devices!
How Much Does Skyroam Cost?
So now you’re probably wondering how much a Skyroam wifi hotspot costs, and how you even get one in the first place. There’s two options; renting or buying one, and either way, you can get it shipped to you or you can pick it up at a dealership nearby.
Renting a Skyroam
For shorter trips that are from one weekend to a couple weeks, I’d suggest renting a Skyroam hotspot, especially if you don’t travel that often. I say this because when you rent it, you’re going to be charged a daily fee regardless of if you need wifi that day or not since you’re still renting the Skyroam device, so longer trips, or multiple international trips could end up getting expensive.
It costs $9.95 per day to rent it, and again that includes up to 5 devices. Considering the quality and convenience of having your own data and wifi hotspot when you travel, I’d definitely say it’s worth it to rent for a shorter trip.
Buying a Skyroam
If you travel frequently, or are going on an extended trip, you can also buy your own Skyroam wifi hotspot device for about $100, which comes with 3 free day passes, plus a lowered daily rate for any additional ones!
I like this option better because it allows me to choose when I want to use one of my 24 hour day passes, so if I want to save them for days that I want/need to get a lot of work done, and use free wifi hotspots on days I don’t, it’s always an option.
My Opinion About Skyroam
So far I’ve been really impressed with the shiny new gadget, and how easy it was to activate the 24-hour day pass, find the log-in information, and connect it to my iPhone and MacBook Air. The Wifi runs perfectly, and automatically connects to my devices, so I still get notifications and whatnot like I would with normal cell service.
The battery also lasts me a full day of chronic computer work and messaging, and I just charged it at night with the little USB chord that comes in its protective carrying case, or I use a portable battery charger if I really need to.
I’m definitely not making any of this up either, you can even check out my Snapchat (@mylifesamovie.c) to see it in action right now, or take a peak at the Skyroam website for more info!
Where Skyroam Works
In addition to the countries below, Skyroam also now works in many popular Caribbean islands such as Antigua & Barbuda, Aruba, Barbados, Bermuda, Cayman Islands, Curacao, Guadeloupe, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Martinique, Trinidad & Tobago, and Turks & Caicos.
Here are the other countries where the Skyroam wifi hotspot works. Keep in mind that just like at home, there are certain places where cell phone service just sucks, and there’s nothing you can do about it. The Skyroam hotspot will automatically connect to the most powerful local service provider, so if the signal is weak, it’s because of the local service, not the Skyroam!

Disclaimer: I am a voluntary brand ambassador for Skyroam, meaning I am not paid to say any of this, however I do get commission if you happen to be nice and rent a Skyroam through a link on my site. Skyroam is also the official sponsor of my live videos and Snapchat stories while I’m traveling through India with their device!
Skyroam seems to be the solution. I am in Brussels this week. Where can I buy skyroam?
Stephen
Got one through your IG link the other day! Can’t wait to use it on my trip to Norway next month!
Awesome! How do you like it so far? I love mine!
I’m planning a trip to Brazil, Peru, Bolivia and Chile! With the connectivity I’d share my Skyroam wifi with fellow travellers. What a great way to make new friends and stay connected with them no matter where you are in the world! This technology is incredible, I remember only 8 years ago it could cost up to $10 per HOUR at internet cafes travelling around Central America. Now you can pay $10 per day for a wifi device – amazing!
Just started hearing about SkyRoam and love everything I’m seeing. Time to head to New Zealand and keep my travel brand online while I’m there!
I’d love this for my trip to Peru!
I’d mostly use it to keep my parents informed of how I’m doing. I never travel with phone service and they get so nervous. With wifi connection they could reach me when they feel scared and that’s valuable to me.
Also- I’d love to be able to share more of the world with people. I feel weird posting lots of pictures all at once when I’m in a wifi zone, and this way I could share more details about each place!
I would love to use my Skyroam in Bali on my next september trip!
I love to share my trips on my IG and FB Page AND most important, on the days I will be in Bali, i will launch my new website (connected to my travel blog).
It is a little success for me because I’ve decide to change my life, I want to travel as much as I can, and I hope that with my blog and my new website (always about travel) I can start work remotely full time as soon as I can.
So, with a Skyroam I can be the first one that can see her new creation go online 🙂
It’s so funny because I was literally planning on re-looking up this post so I could get the info on this. I remember reading this on your blog a while back and wanted to get one for my trip to Iceland next month. THEN, I saw your Insta post and figured I could enter the giveaway! (Truth be told, I’m getting one either way). My plan is to use it in Iceland to help me navigate our adventure with 6 others that are going with me! They are trusting me as an unofficial guide even though it’s my first time too! But I have done tons of research (including your extremely helpful posts!) so I hope I can deliver 😉 Having wifi will give me peace of mind and let me use Waze to navigate us from waterfall to waterfall on our self-guided tour of the South Coast!
If I had the opportunity to have a Skyroam I would absolutely use it in travels to Cambodia and just about everywhere:) I’d love to post pictures to IG to show friends and family what I’m up to as well as search where the best local food is! Mostly to look up good food and drinks ??. Thank you!!!!!
Yeyyy!!! Would love to have one on my upcoming honeymoon in the caribbean! Traveling around the islands and go LIVE from paradise beaches ❤
Hey Alyssa!
First, I just want to say you are one of my inspirations! I love to travel and have even started my own travel blog! I follow all of your Instagram pictures, watch all your stories, and read literally every blog post, dreaming that one day I can travel the world and blog about it in the way you do! Your pictures are amazing and I love your kindness! I am so sad I wasn’t able to attend your blogging retreat but if there is another I will definitely be there! (If college doesn’t interfere again)
Well, with that being said I would love to use this when I travel so I can keep updating my very small but slowly growing blog, as I reach for my dreams of being a full-time traveler!
Much Love! Keep doing you!
Gina <3
This looks amazing! I’ll be traveling through East Asia and hopefully South America soon – I would love to use this to keep in touch with my ever-worrying family and (obviously) to keep my social media friends updated. Gotta check one out!
I’d love one of these! I’m always traveling with my job and it would be super handy! You asked which dream destination I’d use it in – my initial response was Namibia, however I see it doesn’t work there yet. Soooo, my next option is Mauritius! I’d go live as much as possible and post videos of all the fishies under the brilliant blue sea!!!
Oh i would love one of those on my trips! Going to Sri lanka soon and that would be perfect! ?
I’d love to use it in Canada to get in touch with my family and home friends when there’s no Wi-Fi and to post pictures on the spot ?
My dream destination to use the Skyroam would be in Japan! Due to the language barrier, it would definitely help a lot when I need to navigate to where I want to go. I can also use it to look up words or types of foods I want to eat. 😀
Bail! I’m so loving all of your blogs. I’m a new fan! Keep it up !
Bail! I’m so loving all of your blogs. I’m a new fan! Keep it up ?
Sounds like a perfect device to stay connected everywhere you go. With the 4G connectivity I would post always pictures and videos from the place i am visiting so everyone comes to see what I can see even if they are not with me!
Great review, very thorough! If I had the Skyroam 4G I would feel super relieved for my trip to Peru in october. I have traveled all over the world, and all my terrible (yet interesting) experiences were from having no Wi-Fi! Thank you for your time!! <3
Hi Alyssa,
I think it would be epic to be in Egypt with Skyroam. To beable to show ‘live’ the pyramids, the Nile…how amazing would that be!!!
Sorry, for posting three times! It kept freezing but obviously it went through. 🙂
Egypt would be the place to go!! Being able to do live video would be amazing.
Just spent 4 months in India. Our internet was so spotty and often times we’d be without for days on end which made it hard for us to stay connected to family and also to work. It’s my goal to empower women around the world through business. Long term trips are definitely in the future. Having something like this would have been amazing!
My dream destination (just one???) – Israel and South Africa! I’d use Skyroam to stay connected so I could share my photos with my friends and family, and also check in on my dog! 🙂 <3
I would use my future Skyroam to work on my blog that you have motivated me to create ☺️??✈️?
This is incredible and I’ve been looking for something like this. Free wifi – non existent. I’ve traveled to 30+ countries (you are I were actually in Halong Bay the same time) and this would be perfect
Id use first in Ushuaia “the gateway to antarctica (my last continent to visit).
Thank you for sharing. Keep up the amazing blog!
Thanks for sharing!! You’re amazing for doing this! My dream travel destination is Bali and I would use the speedy connection to share with my family and friends live streams of all the beauty there is to see in bali and hopefully inspire others to travel as well.
I would use Skyroam in Egypt!! Not only posting pictures but live videos.
Hey girl!
Entering your Skyroam contest but you know I’m a huge supporter of yours and read all your stuff anyways! Haha
My wildest dreams for travel are related to my unique perspective on life. I’ve grown up with an illness that put me in the hospital for months at a time since age 10. While I would be in the hospital I would have roommates come and go and often times we would end up chatting and their families would come visit them as most do. Honestly it’s a very vulnerable position that you see people in and when people are scared and vulnerable everyone responds differently. However, there was one thing that I realized over the years and that was how no matter what language they spoke, what God they worshipped, what color their skin was, etc. everyone at their core all wanted the same thing. They all wanted their loved one to be safe and healthy. They all worried. Some fought, some bound together, some laughed, some cried. Those vulnerable moments really bring out some crazy emotions in people. But at the end of the day underneath it all everyone was well.. the same.
Since experiencing that and having a lot of time to think while being sick it’s been my life dream to travel the world and meet people from every corner of the world and show their similarities in their hearts and to document it. I want to see their differences as well. Because that makes us all who we are. At the core humans are the same and then with the freedom to express our cultures we become beautifully different. I want to see how other cultures treat their ill ones. What rituals or traditions they have to bring comfort to those whom are sick.
I want to show the world how connected we are and how peoples hearts truest are one in the same. This is my dream.
I’d use my skyroam EVERYWHERE! Particularly next year when my boyfriend and I take our first big trip to Ireland to explore our heritage! Both of our families roots run deep there and we are beyond excited to explore it. Your blog has given me numerous tips and tricks for our travels making me even more excited for less-stress travels!
I’d use my skyroam EVERYWHERE! Particularly in Ireland next year when my boyfriend and I go explore our heritage. Both of our families roots are from Ireland and we’re super excited to make it our first big trip! Ive been doing lots of research on sights to see and keeping an eye on skyscanner for price drops! You’re blog has made my planning for this trip unbelievably easy which I hope will make our travels as stress free as possible!
I would absolutely love to win this device as I am quitting my job in a few months to travel for a year. The number one place I want to visit is tahiti. I’ll be able to keep up with your blog posts and Insta stories with this device as love reading about your adventures.
I’d love to test it out anywhere! I currently have google fi for when I travel and combined with wifi it has been serving me well, but it would be interesting to test out a new product (hiking through Japan next… maybe it would work well there?)
This would be amazing to use off the amalfi coast in Italy
My dream travel is to go Egypt.I would use this to stay connected to my family to check in every now and then so they don’t worry.I would also use it to do some research on which places to go to and how to get there
Looks and sounds amazing!! I totally need one! If I sayyyyy won the giveaway, I’d use it all the time to finally get my blog up and running! You are such an inspiration!! Thanks for all the amazing advice and sharing your stories! <3
I think I’d use this to work on my classes while I traveled! I’ve always pictured myself being a student in Scotland or something 🙂
There are so many places I would use this. Starting with my next trip, Tokyo. I would use it on more trips in 2018 including France(my favorite). My dream, one day destination is India. This would be amazing there. Hope I win! 🙂
I’d use it in Bali. I will be able to share my experience online with my friends as I’m exloploring. I will be going to some temples, snorkeling, riding elephants, & going in a night safari tour.
Love the advice!!!
I’m actually about to go to Iceland in October because I was inspired by your trip. Since we will be all over the Gopden Circle, having a wifi hotspot would be amazing! I’d use it to upload all of the amazing pictures that I hope to take.
Alyssa!!! It’s Katie and Danny! Thanks for writing the post on the skyroam. We have been talking about getting one since we saw you using yours in Iceland! It’s the coolest little gadget and definitely comes in handy. We were actually just talking about getting one for our upcoming month long trip through Europe and Asia. I don’t know if you remember us telling you about the around the world Disney trip, but it’s coming up in Oct-Nov. It would be so cool to stay connected to everyone during the trip! Also, it’s my(katie’s) 30th birthday and we will be at the Great Wall of China for my birthday….. so it would be awesome to FaceTime my fam from the Great Wall using skyroam. Hope you’re well! Keep up all the posts, snaps, and instagrams!! ???
My dream travel is to go to Egypt.I would use this to stay connected to my family to check in every now and then so they don’t worry.I would also use it to do some research on which places to go to and how to get there.
I’d use the Skyroam in Morocco as I continue to build up my content for my very own travel and wellness blog!
I would love to have this device wherever I’m travelling to keep in touch with family and friends back home! It would also make a huge difference while backpacking around, whenever I need to look things up. I’d love to travel anywhere in the world but specifically I’d love to use it in New Zealand or Hawaii 🙂
I’d use my SkyRoam in Netherlands! I plan on taking my first solo trip and going there. My mom is really hesitant and has begged me not to go so I’d use it to keep in contact with her to put her worries at ease.
Great article Alyssa! It’s been so inspiring to watch your journey thus far.
This is amazing! I have been looking for an alternate to the expensive plans mobile carriers like to rip you off with. It will be so amazing not having to worry about data overages. I will definitely be looking into this for my upcoming trip to Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand.
I’d use my Skyroam in Namibia to show in real time the magnificence of this country.
Hey Girl!
Love your blog not only for tips but also because of your personality !
I am myself passionate about travel, I moved to the States 5 years ago from France and I just love discovering new places and learn languages. Now that I mastered America, I am ready to go! I decided to start to live my passion because of you. Wish me luck haaha!
Look forward to see more post and videos. I am going to buy the all GoPro gear and very interested in the skyroam.
If I don’t win, well… you are still freaking awesome! Continue what you do, live your dream and passion and please share it with us !
I’d connect and fly the drone live… that would be pretty cool.
If I had Skyroam, I’d go Live all the time!
Thanks for being an inspiration!
I’d use it to post tons of ig travel and food photos from Maldives! ❤️
This tool is ESSENTIAL!!! I love that it’s so easy to use! I would use it on all my upcoming travels. I plan on seeing Cuba and Thailand within the next year, and would love to try this product out! Love your blog and instagram!
Hey there! I just went to go try and use your coupon to buy my own device and it didn’t work 🙁 Is there something I’m doing wrong or did it expire?
I am from South Africa. I want to know where I can get it in South Africa. Can you please help me.
Hey! They ship it anywhere in the world! You just need to order it online!
I’m wondering if Skyroam would work in Borneo. Malaysia is one of the accepted countries and I will be on part of the island that belongs to Malaysia. I’m also going to Vietnam, is the whole country covered when using wifi?
If it’s listed on their site as a covered country it should work, BUT! If you go to super remote areas where a normal cell phone wouldn’t work, don’t expect it to work either lol. It operates on local cell service!
#Skyroam100Countries
Mongolia, that’s where I would love to use my Skyroam.
Alyssa, did this work in Jordan when you went to Petra? It’s not listed as one of the countries.
No, unfortunately it didn’t 🙁 I had to just wing it with hotel wifi there but didn’t have too much of a problem lol
I would use it in Croatia. I also cruise a fair amount and I would tote it along to see where it works.
I’m going on a long-term road trip throughout North America and Mexico and I would love to win this! This would be perfect for me to use in order to blog about my adventures! 🙂 Thank you for sharing this contest!
I work on a cruise ship and it’s great! I joined in Hong Kong and left in Helsinki. Apart from a few places without coverage it was a great help and a massive money saver too!
Alyssa, I love all your social media accounts. I feel like I get to see a bit of the world throygh you and when I finish school at the end of this year I’ll finally be able to start travelling as well…solo of course. My ultimate goal is to spend a month in Indonesia! Would love a skyroam to take with me ?
I would like to try the Skyroam hotspot in Huatulco, Oaxaca Mexico
I’d love to use it in Swizterland.
I am a high school special education teacher and the most valuable lessons I have shared with my students have been the ones from my travel experiences. I travel every summer to places new and far to learn about the land and culture in order to open the world to my students through my experiences. Pictures and videos have been. Invaluable tools and I think this could take it one step further. One assignment I give my students is to make a life list of 25 things they want to accomplish (big or small). 8 years ago when k started as a teacher I made a list with them. Everything seemed like a dream on that list, the first one being travel to Africa. I never imagined in a million years that this summer I would be crossing that off my list along with the five other incredible places I’ve already crossed off that list. Through my travels I am able to show my kids that anything is possible and there is a great big world out there waiting for them to experience. Staying connected through my travel with my students would be another way to see that anything is possible!
I’d use the 100 free day passes to keep travelling around Europe! I’ve been to about a quarter of the European countries, so those day passes would really help with the rest!
Moscow, Russia or better yet, setting on a cruise ship in Saint Petersburg’s harbor
I’d definitely like to use Skyroam to visit the Caribbean and Europe. Aruba, Bermuda, Jamaica, United Kingdom and France. It looks awesome!
Alyssa– I would definitely take Skyroam to Costa Rica & Vietnam. I also work remotely so it would be nice to have a Skyroam as a backup if I need to get something on the go while in the States travelling. I’ll need it in a few weeks when I go to Maine for the first time! I have been searning for the right hit spot for a while and so have my friends. Would love to test this out and let all of my coworkers and friends know about it! (Followed them on Twitter and FB?).
I’d take it on a hell of a ride to all the places that are on my list for next year – Jamaica, the Bahamas, Laos, Dubai, Sailing in Croatia and possibly the outback of Australia. A reliable personal WiFi is key to never get lost in these sometimes remote places!
i would love to take my skyroam to the philppines next month to celebrate my aunts 90th birthday. combine skyroam and facebook live, we can have a super huge celebration with all my family all over the world!
Would take it in my bike panniers and it would follow me on my bicycle travel on the panamericana down south…
Hey Alyssa! I’d love to take that skyroam on our upcoming honeymoon to the Maldives! Xoxo #skyroam100countries
Brussels. I’d love to go visit my friend again.
Post from atop the Eiffel Tower..
I’m going to use it in Switzerland next . I’ve already used it in Ireland, Scotland, England ,Belguim and Spain. Another good use for Skyroam is for using a laptop or up to 5 while you are on the road in a vehicle. Obviously not being used by the driver. I love Skyroam.
I would love to use it while on a cruise ship.
Would love to say hi from New Zealand in November this year and from Iceland in March of next year!
Just bought one and can’t wait to use it in Auckland, NZ.
Hello, not only do I like to use my Skyroam while in exotic locations! But just sitting in my back yard in Los Angeles while looking out at the hollywood sign, dreaming of being on a yacht off the coast of Croatia!
Because, this device has saved me when my home internet goes out (which is often so slow, and more expensive) fast reliable and sexy!
I’d use it out in the Saudi desert when we camp or go sand surfing! Would love to share the sunsets/action LIVE with my blog base.
Would love to say hello from Japan using a Skysroam portable wifi hotspot! 🙂
When we’re in Italy, following the Giro d’Italia in May, a Skyroam would make it super-easy for us to keep tabs on the race while we wait on top of the Stelvio pass, anticipating the peloton’s arrival. #Skyroam100Countries
Awesome giveaway girl!! I would take Skyroam on my trip to Cuba in February 🙂
I already bought a SkyRoam hotspot for a business trip last month, but I would love to win 100 days for family Pokemon Go hunting during our month-long Hong Kong/Japan/Taiwan vacation next summer!
On a side note, I really wish iOS has a way to tell it that a wifi connection is metered. Android has that option. But during my business trip to India, I blew thru most of my 4G allotment because iOS was trying to download app updates at a 1 hour airport layover!
Would love to take this to visit more National Parks and visit all the wonders of the world!
I am going on a Viking river cruise on the Danube next month. We will be visiting Hungary, Slovakia, Austria, The Czech Republic & Germany on the cruise. Then we are spending a week in Rome Italy. SkyRoam works in all these countries. I can even make a receive calls on my mobile device using Google’s VOIP, Google Voice with just WiFi.
I’m looking into using this on my next vacation to Iceland! I recently discovered this device the day before I left for a 2 week cross country road trip and ever since finding it I have wanted to use it since!!
I would love to take SkyRoam to Cape Town, South Africa!
Hi Alyssa,
My wildest travel dream would be to own a camper van and travel the world in it. This Skyroam gadget would be the best way to stay connected with the rest of the world. Great write up btw. Always LOVE reading your blog.
Hi, I love skyroam, I want to say hello with my skyroam from Thailand!
I would take SkyRoam to NZ, Australia, and Egypt, places to see landmarks such as Great Barrier Reef (in waterproof case) or Giza Pyramids before they erode.
I went to Italy for a couple of weeks (5 of us) and all were able to keep in touch when wifi was not available.
would love to use it either in africa or australia
It would be nice for Borneo, laos, Bangladesh and Nepal
Would love to have this when I travel
Hey Alyssa! I’ve been seeing you using this awesome device on your snap chat! I’d love to use it on my travels to Europe at the end of the year! So excited to visit Berlin, Paris, Barcelona and London before heading back to Kuala Lumpur! Thanks for sponsoring the giveaway skyroam!
I would love to connect from Canada, Mexico, and all over the USA. We are about to retire and hope to spend most of our time on the road!
I would love to have 100 days of Skyroam use. I use mine all the time in China and tomorrow in Belgium. I would love to say hello from there.
I would love to take the Skyroam with me to Mexico next year with my fiancé as we research destination wedding spots!
I want like to carry my SkyRoam to Japan. If you have wifi in Japan, you will not be lost in the city.
I also want to go to South Africa. It is totally different world in my life.
Would love to use sky roam in Europe
Would love to say hello from an exotic island!
Alyssa, Just found out about your site from an email from Skyroam. Great tips! Makes me want to travel. I’m going to Jordan, Israel and egypt in January of next year and would love a Skyroam to take with me! Just saw your recent post from the Dead Sea in Jordan. Looking forward to reading more aboutyour trips
Hi there! I’m going SCUBA diving in Utila, Honduras, and would love to use SKYROAM there. I was there before, and the hotel I stayed at had wifi, but the signal didn’t reach my room, so I had to sit out on the patio with the mosquitoes to use my devices. Skyroam will solve that problem! (yes, they have 3G there).
I would love to say hello from a tour of Europe! I love the Skyroam seamlessly finds each country’s cell network without having to find and log in on your own. I use it in Canada all the time and it saves me a bundle, but I can’t wait to use it on trips abroad!
Hello! I’m a hairdresser who recently decided to fulfill my dreams of traveling the world. I’ve started a travel Instagram with a blog in progress. I’d love to be able to say hello from Europe and Northern Africa! I will be solo backpacking these next few months starting in Sweden making my way down to Egypt! I’d love to take Skyroam with me to each and every single beautiful country I have the pleasure of exploring. Skyroam will allow me to keep in contact with loved ones while simultaneously documenting my travel experience to inspire others! #skyroam100countries
I have a massive list of places to say hello from but next I’ll need it in Spain next year !!!
Top of my list:
Finally seeing my family in Indonesia (never been *shame*)
And set foot on Antartica!!
Skyroam would definitely help me with being able to keep working online, so my travel funds can go grow further.
I would love to take SkyRoam to France next year when my Fiancé and I get married. I would love to have SkyRoam be apart of this next chapter while allowing me to document and keep all my friends and family who couldn’t updated on our union of love.
Would love to have this on my field study trip to Peru at the end of the month.
I’d love to take this on my trip to Thailand in January. Traveling with my girlfriends and it sure would give us some peace of mind.
Ahh! Where wouldn’t I take this! Iceland and Thailand are two of my top ones to go to right now!
I am going to use my skyroam to explore the world. I have taken the plunge and about to launch my blog in the next few weeks. I have already traveled a lot in Europe and plan on doing it again along with all the places I missed. In Europe I would use it in the airports that make it touch for you to connect. But I will mostly use my wifi hotspot to stay connected and safe as a solo female traveler. I love to explore the not so “touristy” areas of the places I go. In Cyprus we went to a dessert BBQ which was awesome and a little touch given we were not connected, at the end it was well worth the risk. As I plan to travel through Asia and then to the Fiji island and then to africa and finally through south amwrica and the carabianne.
Heeeey!
I would bring me Skyroam to the Bolivia salt flats because I think it is one of the most beautiful places ever and I would love to share my memories with the ones I love by staying connected. Congrats on 100 counties Skyroam!!
I would love to be able to use it next summer while traveling through Southeast Asia. Laos is the last country I need to visit on continental Asia and then I’ve been to all of them! After that I plan to explore the islands of Indonesia.
I would love to use skyroam at the top of the Swiss alps!
Heading off to Eastern Europe in 2 weeks and this would definitely solve any connectivity concerns that I had! Thanks for the recommendation!
I would love to have one of these the next time I visit my family in the Czech Republic! It would definitely make exploring Eastern Europe a lot easier.
Wish I’d known about this sooner! Would make trips home to SA and my last trip to Cambodia so much easier!! Would love to use one of these for my first solo trip to Egypt in Feb, and would love to try the Inca trail in Peru!!
I’ve been really thinking about this as I head to New Zealand and Australia in January, and want to do a quick Indonesia trip while I’m there!! This would be amazing to take on my trip with me!!! Yahh for solo travel! Also, is there anything you don’t like about it ? I usually get local SIM cards if I’m there longer than a week.
So when I first decided I wanted to visit Iceland I looked at instagram for pictures of all the amazing things to do and I found myself continually going back to your blog Alyssa. I’m legitimately obsessed with you now and follow everything you do and feel like I’m on these awesome adventures with you! If I do win the skyroam giveaway I definitely am starting in Iceland. I plan on driving the gold circle and diving the silfra fissure as well. Maybe I’ll fit in some waterfalls as well 😉 P.S. Egypt looked amazing!!!
I would love to have this on my trip to Costa Rica next month! I would love to be able to stay connected and share all of my adventures while in the moment. I am applying to become a flight attendant and would love to stay connected all over — my dream is to go to Italy and see the amalfi coast. I would be in heaven to have a hotspot while I was there and finding hidden gems!!!
Mexico for my best friends 30th
Iceland for my honeymoon
Africa for my cousins marathon
And Greece for my Independentcation
Im planning a trip to indonesia with my friends next year. I’ll be totally awesome to have free wifi along!
Alyssa – I’ve loved following your travels. Your posts are travel inspirations.
I travel to Greece every summer, and I’ve been wanting to find an economical way to be connected. This will allow me to post and stay connected 24/7. Looking forward to investing in Skyroam, and sharing with friends and family.
Hi Alyssa, how cool would it be for me to able to say I’m using my new skyroam on my FIRST SOLO trip around Europe and the UK, thanks to your wanderlust workers class I’m currently in?! You have inspired me immensely, especially to travel solo and not to let anything stop you from doing so. Thanks for considering me, happy travels! ?
Omg that’s so incredible to hear Justine!! I’m so proud of you!
I would love to be able to say hello from the Mentawai Islands of Indonesia using skyroam ?
Hey Alyssa – my wildest travel dream is to quit work, pick a continent and head there for a really long time. I want to make no plans what so ever, so that when I find a place I love, I can stay. If I find a place I don’t like, I can move on. If someone recommends somewhere I should see, I can go there without sacrificing another destination. There is something about carrying everything I need on my back that makes me feel incredibly self-sufficient and free – I can go anywhere, experience anything and no day is the same. All the while remembering that the point is the journey, not the destination.
I need this for my trip to the Philippines!! I want to be able to post pics and make very one at home jealous. ?
My wildest traveling dreams …WOW good question.
I want to travel to India, to GOA, to be exact.
I want to visit Buenos Aires as I am a Tango dancer and as you know, BA is the birthplace of Tango.
I want to visit South Africa…
And Spain ohhh Spain… i need to go there next year!
Skyroam would be awesome to use on my first international trip to Iceland in March! Great way to help keep me in touch with my son and family while on my trip! Dream travels would be to vacation all summer with my son throughout Ireland, London, Paris, Italy and whatever else I could fit in!
My wildest dream is to go to Antarctica one day! Mostly as it is hard to reach and not many people have gone there, I’ve also seen so many documentaries on the place! In the meantime I have a trip around Asia planned, which would be super handy to have skyroam for 🙂
My ultimate holiday dream would be to quit my job and start travelling the world for a few months. Starting off in south east Asia and seeing where I end up.
Would love to be able to visit a few friends living in London and France and if it all worked out end up having an amazing few days over in Coachella.
I’ve been looking into wifi hotspot devices for a WHILE now and just haven’t taken the plunge to get one yet! It would be SO handy to have to not only update my social media and travel blog with! I’m sure it’d also make long distance easier while I’m away in the backcountry for seasonal wildlife jobs or working at sea around the world on cruise ships! What an epic achievement to have Skyroam in 100 countries now, too! *pops the champagne*
Wow I am loving the look of this and I could use it right here in Cayman to work from the kite beach 🙂 I would definitely take it on all of my travels to be able to send photos and updates and maybe one day I can take it on my dream to the Great Wall of China – I’ve always wanted to go and imagine sitting on the top and reporting directly from there!
caribbeansnowflake.com
I would love to have one of these. Most of the time when I’ve traveled is such a pain in the butt to get a good internet connection. I love posting pictures and sharing with friends and family. I want everyone to experience the trip as they were there. This seems like it’ll be an awesome gadget to have. ❤ And about my wildest travel dream, might not seem wild to many but I dream of visiting Thailand and India. With that said I’m pretty much living vicariously through you lol thanks!!!!!
I would love to use this in the phillipenes as I really want to go there! ? awesome giveaway! 🙂
I am visiting my family in Colombia and would love to have this because I can share all my pictures with family and friends even when on the road. Internet there can be a little unreliable, so this is perfect for my trip. Thanks for such a good giveaway.
Hi Alyssa!
Love your blog, Instagram and especially your snapchat. Love waking up to seeing what country you’re in/what you’re wearing/what you’re climbing or sneaking into!
After finishing college and university for the goal of landing a “real job” *heavy ass eye roll*, and realizing that the conventional path I was heading down was not for me, I’m quitting my job of TEN years to travel and find my way back to my passion of writing. Writing what, I don’t know. Maybe a novel, maybe a screenplay, maybe a sarcastic holistic wellness blog no one will ever read.
ANYWAYS, I’m going to travel solo to/through London, Dubai, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Bali, New Zealand before landing in Australia to work in an aboriginal community in the outback. I would love to win a skyroam and say hi to you, my family and friends throughout my travels via, as 6 of the 7 countries I plan on traveling to (so far) are #skyroam100countries.
Thanks for the opportunity and thanks for writing such a great and honest blog and taking such amazing, and sometimes risky photos!!
Congrats Kristen! YOU ARE THE WINNER OF THE SKYROAM +100 DAY Passes! Please email me when you get a chance! info@mylifesamovie.com and also let me know your IG handle! <3
I’d love for my husband to be able to reach me when being stationed overseas anywhere!
Hi Alyssa!
I’d love to be able to say hello from Alaska! Next year we will be travelling there for my Mom’s 60th birthday as she has always wanted to visit. Whenever we’ve travelled in the US its always been a hassle to use the wifi and save driving routes at the hotel to make sure we know where we’re going when not connected. Having a skyroam would make travelling there and anywhere else in my future travels a breeze. I plan on eventually visiting all of the continents and having this to ease my mothers heart to make sure I’m safe and sound half way around the world is a must. ????
I’d love to say hello from Thailand! I will be there for 3 weeks during the Christmas holiday. Plus, it’ll give me an excuse to continue to book some international travel!
Finding wifi during my travels is often frustrating – especially outside the US. Trying to connect back home while in Sri Lanka a few years ago was such a hassle, even in my hotel room! I have a chronic health condition + needed to keep in contact with one of my doctors while on this particular trip. I was eventually able to get through, but wasted an insane amount of time doing so when I could have been out touring the city!
So where would I take my SkyRoam today? My siblings + I want to wander around Italy for a few weeks eating food + drinking wine OR take a WWII tour around Europe (Germany, Netherlands, Poland, France, etc). My ultimate bucket list trip is spending several weeks making my way through Japan, though. With affordable wifi, we can snap or Instagram our mom so she won’t worry while we’re gone! #skyroam100countries
I just passed my NCLEX-RN last week and it’s been a long time coming. First take & passed. I’ve spent the last 10 years caring for others since High School through college. Was president of pretty much every organization and always love giving back to my students and community.
During my senior year, 5 months before graduation I was diagnosed with cancer and stopped school. Had to get treated. Less than a year later, 6 cycles of chemo and several surgeries, I was cancer free. My friends, family, & even doctors couldn’t believe it. It was a miracle. I’m a fighter.
Went back to college to finish what I started. And graduated nursing school. My younger sister at this point was catching up to me, and would graduate the following year. She fell ill during her senior year due to all the stress and what not, so instopped what I was doing and didn’t take my boards in order to care for her and accompany her in college.
Success took a couple of road blocks and obstacles, but i realized and tell people that’s how life works. You just take it and go with it. And make the most of it.
A year later, here I am. An RN. I’m blessed and surrounded by the best friends and family a guy could ask. I’ve been following your page and several other travel blogs, it makes me wanna travel & document it.
I would take the Skyroam to the Philippines, and if time permits I wanna travel to Thailand and maybe other countries in Southeast Asia.
Alyssa, I love your Snapchat posts! Makes me want to travel. I’m hoping to go to Greece, and Indonesia next year and would love a Skyroam to take with me!
My wildest travel dream is to travel and not be broke! Budgeting always, but it’d be nice to be able to do every single thing I wanted to with no problem. 🙂
I’ve always wondered how well it works.. nice to see someone using it!! My dream is to pickup where I left off and get back on a (inown half a sailboat) sailboat and finish traveling where I left off. My dream it to take it through the Panama Canal and just keep going! So that.. is where I’d take it!
This is great! Skyroam seems like the perfect answer for traveling the world while remaining connected to family. I think my wildest travel dream would be to do exactly what you are doing. Travel the world and experience all that this blue marble has to offer. La dolce vita!!
To skyroam and Alyssa, thank you for inspiring me to become a travel blogger. Traveling throughout my life I’ve been able to see the world through different eyes. I’ve been able to touch the lives of young, children living in the poorer neighborhoods of Mexico by building them homes. I’ve been able to travel to 12 different countries in Europe, scubadive three different oceans and now my next trip will be in South east Asia working at orphanages and traveling as much as possible. It would help me a lot to use @myskyroam to stay in touch with my family and friends while I’m away. This device will change the way travelers can communicate allowing us to feel more connected than ever before. Thank you.
I’ve been traveling through Europe for the past 3 weeks coming from Dubai where I live. I’m ending my trip in Ireland && Scotland. Would love to use it there so I can connect && show my nephew back in America that he can also travel as long as he sets his mind to the fact that the world is not scary what so ever.
I would love a Skyroam for my Thailand trip in November. How cool would it be to document the hikes to waterfalls in Chaing Mai, post videos of scuba diving in South Thailand, exploring in Bangkok.
I wish I had one of these for Paris, getting connected there was impossible, so was hard to order ubers, and googlemap where to walk.
I would love to go to Europe with the skyroam and post while I’m on the go. Just got back from Australia and only posted when I was in a hotel with wifi. This will make life much easier. Because of course I would need to post my big bowl of spaghetti in Italy right away on Instagram. This is such a cool idea and would be a staple on my travels. Keep on traveling!
I would take skyroam with me to Uganda to go on a Chimpanzee Safari and Gorilla Trekking.
I would love to be able to have skyroam while I’m in India in a few weeks! But my wildest travel dream is probably climbing Mount Everest…or at least part of it! I can’t get over how beautiful and awe-inspiring it is. I also want to be able to say I’ve traveled to all the continents in the world. I’ve got a long ways to go but thanks to your Wanderlust Workers program I now see that it can be possible with a lot of work and determination!
Hey, Alyssa! Found you on Snapchat and have since followed you on other social media outlets. On Instagram you asked about our wildest travel dreams. My husband is nearing retirement from the military and instead of moving into a corporate civilian job, my dream is for is to become full-time travel photographers/bloggers. We’ve even considered doing tours – he’s great with history and culture. I’m the photog. There’s so much beauty in this world, I can’t imagine not seeing it all. Thanks for being an inspiration to me to keep pursuing my dream–and I love visiting the world vicariously through you! ?
First up: I plan to use one in our 3 week trip to Thailand!

This is absolutely fantastic! Thank you so much for introducing me to this. I really wish I had this on my last travels but I will definitely be buying this for my upcoming journeys.
@christina_tsubasa
Hi Alyssa! As I said in the instagram post I haven’t been able to travel much but my husband and I are trying to plan a 3 week trip to Italy and France in the spring which are my dream destinations. I work from home so I will have to work a bit here and there so winning a skyroam would help tremendously! And I’m hoping this is just the start to our adventures. I love following yours and other travel bloggers snaps – I always keep a journal close by to write down things to do and places to see. Thank you for allowing us to follow your adventures!
I would love to use a skyroam in Greece! So handy for posting on instagram!
Planning a trip through 15 countries in Europe, leaving from the U.S. I’d love to have one of these to stay connected, post photos of my travels and share travel tips and ideas. ?
In your footsteps. ..
I’d love to say hello from Croatia! 🙂
Hi Alyssa. Never met you but we have a bunch of mutual friends. I quit my job last summer to pursue traveling and a lot of people always told me to follow you for inspiration. I’ve gotten to 5 countries the past few months and I’m knocking Winter in ICELAND off my bucket list this coming January!!! I’m super excited and staying in a little plastic igloo one night in the middle of nowhere so this wifi device would be PERFECT for that night!!!! Would love to try it out. Thanks so much :))
I’ve been thinking about of of these for ages! I’m finally taking a year out to see if I can make a go of being a digital nomad/blogger and this would help so much! I’ve only really travelled well-connected Western countries so far (Europe, USA, Canada) but as of January I’m heading into Africa and South America so I’d love to be able to ‘say hello’ from there!
It’s great! One question when you buy one how it works after the 3 days free pass?
I will love to have one of it.
Ps I love your trip!
i’d take @myskyroam to London this december then onto EGYPT where I will be with @orana_wellness!!! I would love to show my family that I am SAFE! then to italy and to Morocco!! and wherever else I end up!! Please and thank you @mylifesatravelmovie ????????????? #skyroam100countries ????
I had one of these in Japan and it was amazing. I dream of seeing penguins in Antarctica as well as elephants in the wild in Borneo (soon!).
After seeing all your pictures in eygpt me and my friend are now going in February. I’ll also be in Dublin in January and then Australia at the end of next year. It would be amazing to have this device on all my travels!
My wildest travel dream is to play with penguins in Antarctica! ❤️ #skyroam100countries
I would love to use this in SE Asia! Reviewing and posting pictures from those long bus rides
I would love to use it on a trip that I am planning to either Egypt, Bali, or South Africa next year!!
I’ll be in Thailand and Indonesia for over a month starting in December. Then I’ll be heading to Brazil for Carnival! I would love to stay connected to my loyal IG followers!
@gallivanting_theglobe
I would love to have this on my next adventure to the Philippines? Love this review, great product and I love to follow you on all your trips? Really enjoy your pics on insta and snap too. Stay safe!
I work from home, and I love to travel and sometimes I try to bring my work with me. And I have struggled so many times trying to find good internet connection. I would absolutely love having Skyroam! That would mean that I could travel even more without having to worry about wifi and work, I could simply work whereever and whenever! And if I had Skyroam, I would definitely book a trip to Cambodia, Bali and the Komodo Islands. That would be a dream come true! So thank you so much for all the inspiration and the amazing pictures! I love it!
I will be traveling around the US for the next 6 months then I’m off to South Africa. It would really be handy!
hello:
I will be traveling to Italy-Croatia-BiH-Slovenia for about 19 days in a few weeks. Would you recommend renting or buying? Do you know what the lower daily rate be if I buy the Skyroam vs renting it?
thanks
Hi Roberto! If you’re going for 19 days I’d probably recommend buying one, otherwise you’ll get charged per day for 19 days rather than just activating your own on the days you need it. It’s the same price per day whether you rent or buy one, but if you buy it you get 3 free days and the option to buy “bundles of 5” day passes which lowers the price to $8/day, and again you don’t have to pay the set price on days you don’t use it…so for example, I own a Skyroam, and I went traveling for a month, but only used it when I couldn’t find wifi/data somewhere, so only ended up using it for like 5 days (this is just an example). So I’d only pay for the days I use it, instead of every day that I have it. The buying option I think is better for long trips and for people who travel a lot, otherwise I’d just suggest renting one! Hope that helps!
hi alyssa!
great article. i’m definitely going to get one. too bad montenegro is not on the list of countries! i’m headed there on friday.
i just shared your article on my personal and travellur Facebook pages for all my traveling friends.
love your go pro work, and your do it yourself work ethos. get it girl!!!
coco kliks
on instagram @travellur
Thank you so much Coco!!! Strange it doesn’t work in Montenegro! Thanks for the love, and have a great trip!!!
Just to clarify— do you have to pay a monthly fee or something after buying the device for just $99? How long and where does it work then? Because it sounds like an awesome deal for that price! 🙂
You pay a fee for the day passes, which is why they give the option to rent or buy it; so if you travel a lot, you buy it and pay a lower day pass fee, or if you just need it for one trip, you pay more for the day passes, but then you just return it. It works in most countries, I had it working in India, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives and it was super convenient!!
Thanks Alyssa!
I just bought one (used your link :-)) for my trip to Thailand in a few weeks!!
Love your site and the great snaps.
Sounds like a great device. Do you think this would work on a cruise?
HMMMM Great question!!! I would assume it wouldn’t only because it operates on cellular networks, and I know those are almost impossible to reach while at sea…unless the ship uses cellular to connect its own wifi..
Works if you are on a ship that stays fairly close to land. I just took a cruise from Athens to Venice and as we were making stops every day for nine days I had a signal most of the time except when we were offshore from Montenegro. That country is not in their network (yet).
I had WiFi up in the hills of Delphi, Olympia, country roads of Croatia, etc. Great for locating restaurants or historical information on vacation.
great review!
I’m gonna buy one for my next trip!
I feel like I’m also traveling India through ur snaps ?
