  • If you don’t speak conversational Spanish, try to brush up on it, and definitely download the Google Translate app
  • Most healthcare centers and doctors communicate via Whatsapp, make sure you have it downloaded
  • Be sure to be kind, patient, and grateful to staff members and other patients.
  • If you voted for illegal immigrants to be sent from USA back to Mexico, you don’t deserve to come to Mexico to take advantage of their healthcare, please stay in USA and pay for it there.

Tulum and Playa Del Carmen: Where I Get My Affordable Healthcare in Mexico

I have been going to Playa del Carmen for many years to live temporarily when I was a full time digital nomad. Life is easy, affordable, and the access to healthcare is amazing! Now I have a property in Tulum, and there is some affordable healthcare here, but I still take the bus to Playa for most of it!

Here are all of the procedures and appointments I’ve had, and where!

Playa del Carmen:

  • COSTAMED: general women’s health check up, including breast ultrasound, uterus ultrasound, and pap smear (around $123 USD), dermatology consultation ($100, book far in advance). They also have nearly ALL medical and healthcare services there! WhatsApp for English: +52 9871211424
  • Coral Dental Center: nice facility that does a full cleaning, exam, and two whitening sessions for $260. Whatsapp for English: +52 9848762839

Tulum:

  • Tulum Walk In Clinic: for any consultation with the doctor it is $50 USD. I have gone for colds and for a motorbike accident, they only charged and additional $20 to clean and dress my wound. Absolutely loving it so far, and I'm so grateful for my hosts @destinationpakistan who have been so patient with my constant travel changes and made up itineraries! Cannot wait to come back here with a group already, and i haven't even gotten to the mountains yet!!! Traveling was not a possibility for me when I was younger, yet now I’ve reached my 150th country (out of the 197 list which includes Kosovo)!! It has taken me 12 years, I’ve done most of them solo, and many have been collaborations that I received or pitched, but anything else, including most flights was solely paid for by myself, and here’s how I did it: (But first! Comment “TRAVEL” and I’ll send you links to my tips for making money while traveling, how to play flight roulette, and also this Balkans roadtrip itinerary!) 14 years ago - I started my blog but it didn’t make much money for a couple years. I used my only money and a credit card to take my first trip. I was one of the first people to pitch the concept of “free trips in exchange for social media posts” and I sent hundreds of them, always landing at least one, but there was still so much to see! With the money I earned from my blog, paid posts, and my writing for other platforms, I’d go travel but I’d play what I called “flight roulette”, where I pick “anywhere” as the destination, and choose the cheapest flight to somewhere I hadn’t been yet! As my business grew, I needed to repeat many countries each time year, and now I still travel to an average of 25 countries per year as a traveler-by-trade (influencer/entrepreneur), with the goal of 5-10 new ones each year. I never thought I’d reach all 197 countries…but now that there’s only 47 left…do I attempt it?!?! You can see all the countries I’ve been to and written about on my blog using the clickable map on the home page of mylifesamovie.com, or the menu that’s categorized by destination! As for making money to travel - I have a lot of posts on that and also a course, which teaches techniques for everyone, not just those wanting to be a creator! And for anyone who DOES want to be a creator or group trip host — my biggest advice is to find a niche personal to you, find your specific audience who can relate, and don’t just copy other people’s techniques, create new ones and stand out!
