Let’s face it, Mother’s Day Gifts are likely all going to be getting sent this year due to the global lockdown of 2020.
The good news is that pretty much anything can get quickly shipped these days, and thanks to the internet, you can get creative with Mother’s Day Gifts as well! For me, since I’m stuck in Barcelona and my mom is in Florida, and I know she wanted to visit me here, I sent her an Amazon package to help lift her spirits, and also the digital painting!
Whichever gift you choose to send, be sure to do it soon in case there’s shipping delays due to the pandemic!

Create a Travel PhotoBook
My mom is obsessed with photobooks! They’re the new-age, easier to make photo albums that can easily be created online and shipped straight to her!
I made one once using MixBook and it came out phenomenally! My favorite feature was being able to pull the photos right from Instagram! Use code: GIFTSM for 40% off by 4/29!
Have a Mother Daughter Travel “Painting” Made
This is a truly unique gift that I discovered when one of my Instagram followers in India sent me a digital copy of a travel painting he made of me! He “paints” them on the computer using an actual photo that you send him, and he can do them in one day, then all you have to do is send it to your local printer, and either have it shipped to your mom, or pick it up and take it to her! See some samples here!
To get yours personally made email Akash at familyportraitbyakash@gmail.com
TO PRINT AND SHIP: I used VistaPrint just now and got an 18″x24″ matte poster of the piece above for about $10 plus $8 for rush delivery but you need to order ASAP to get it to your mom by May 5!
PRO-TIP: Don’t have a good family photo? Haven’t traveled to your dream destination with mom yet? You can send him any photo to customize the painting!
Send an Amazon Surprise Box of Mother’s Day Gifts
When my mom started sounding like she was struggling being at home all day every day, I had the idea to cheer her up with a box of random goodies from Amazon! This is a genius idea for all of you last minute gift givers, since Amazon can deliver next day!
Here’s what I got here (not even joking, I sent her a unicorn pool), almost every one is under $20!:
Treat her to a Meal via Delivery
Can’t take mom out to dinner or brunch because everything is closed during lockdown? Surprise her by ordering in! Support local businesses by using Uber Eats, Grub Hub, etc., or one of the many meal delivery services like Hello Fresh! Don’t forget to use Saucy to send some wine as well!
Bonus points if you set up a Zoom/FaceTime session so she can “have brunch with you”!
Send a Home Spa Kit
Can’t take mom to the spa? Order her a few token items from Amazon, then write her a cute DIY spa menu checklist (tip: use cute templates from Canva!) complete with how to set a spa playlist and make cucumber infused water!
Here’s a few affordable spa items you can order from Amazon:
Virtual Mother’s Day Gifts: Vacation Video
Have video footage from past trips or outings together with your mom? Easily edit them together for a mother’s day gift that’s sure to leave her heart full for days on end!
You can EASILY edit video clips with the GoPro Quik app for a longer video, OR simply use Canva to make a Mother’s Day card using their video templates!
Write Her a Memory Story
Remember that time you and your mom took a trip together? Now is a great time to write it out and send it to her! Be sure to emphasize how much you loved spending time with her, and how much fun you had together!
If you don’t have time to mail a handwritten letter, I’d suggest using Canva again, where you can also insert photos from the trip if you have them!
Book a Future Trip Together
Despite the fact that we don’t actually know when we’ll be able to travel again in 2020, the other fact remains that airlines and hotels are offering INCREDIBLE deals right now for future trips! I even saw one special in the Maldives offering half price on your reservation..for ANY date in the future!
Just going to casually throw it out there that I also have spots available on my Bali Mother Daughter retreat! Shoot me an email if you’re interested or send a DM to @MyLifesATravelTRIBE 😉
