How to Find the Cheapest Hotels Using Google Search

People may search

Good news, you don’t have to search through dozens of cheap fare finder sites to find the cheapest hotels! There’s this secret little tool called Google search that does all the searching for you…I guess that’s kind of what it’s there for, right?

It’s actually pretty genius, and of course, insanely convenient, and it even tells you if one website is having a special offer so you can get additional discounts on sites you didn’t know were even having a special! So here’s my little technique for finding not only where the “popular areas” are in a place I haven’t been to, but the cheapest hotels in that area, just by using Google search and maps!

1. Google “Cheapest hotels in ____” then Click the MAP

Since I’m going to the Philippines soon, and one of the islands I’m interested in visiting is Bohol, I typed in “Cheapest hotels in Bohol” into the Google search bar, then clicked on the Google map that pops up with pins that show hotels.

2. Look For Densely Pinned Areas

If you’re not sure what the best areas are to go in a place you haven’t been, using this hotel search can also help you figure that out by seeing where the most hotels are. Logic says that the more hotels in an area, the more popular it is, so you can use that knowledge to either go to that area, or stay far away from it!

3. Narrow Your Search Area and Enter Dates

Once you’ve decided on the area you’re interested in (or even if you’re just comparing), enter your travel dates at the top of the screen to get accurate price and availability results.

4. Use The Sidebar to See Hotel Information

A sidebar will pop up that shows the hotels’ information; if you hover over the image, its pin on the map will also highlight, or if you hover over a pin on the map, it’ll highlight the information in the sidebar. The sidebar shows all of the hotels, their prices, and their star-ratings to help you narrow down your search.

5. Click Hotels in the Sidebar to See Price Comparisons

Google will automatically list the cheapest price it found for each hotel in the thumbnail, but if you click on the thumbnail, you can also see how much the hotel goes for on various sites like Booking.com, Agoda, Travelocity, and Kayak, and which site has the best deal. Google will also show you if there’s any current specials, deals or promotions on one of the cheap fare finder sites.

6. See Reviews and Related Links

If you scroll down you can also see Google reviews on the hotel, and what people searched for that was similar to it. You can also see the related links for the hotel, which usually includes TripAdvisor reviews, the hotel’s website, and any other site or blog that it was mentioned on!

  • I've been waiting 2 years for this adventure in Pakistan, so after an 18 hour journey to get here, I hit the ground running! Sundays are mellow and a lot less crowded, so I got a relatively chill stroll through the Kotwali Wala Bazar, where I stopped for chai, bought too many pairs of shoes and bangles, and a free hand stamp henna! Then it was off to the famous Haveli rooftop restaurant in a former mansion overlooking the mosque and other religious sites, followed by another chai, a stop at the pharmacy in the dodgier area (picked up a cold in between trips), and finally back to a 5 star hotel i found for just $65 per night! Absolutely loving it so far, and I'm so grateful for my hosts @destinationpakistan who have been so patient with my constant travel changes and made up itineraries! Cannot wait to come back here with a group already, and i haven't even gotten to the mountains yet!!! I'm going to attempt daily posts, so please be sure to follow along if you're interested in seeing more! Also yes, so far I feel safe here as a solo female travelers, but let's see how it is on a crowded Monday and after that lovely little mountain flight on Tuesday!   • Finally beat the budget airlines game!! This is for everyone who has ever gotten excited for a $20 flight in the EU, only to end up paying double for even a carryon! [Comment “travel” and I’ll DM you the link to my packing tutorial and all of these products!] For everyone who has tried to layer on as much as possible when they’re weighing bags, and who has had a mini melt down when they ask to place your bag in the measuring bin! I present to you, my top travel packing hacks as a full time travel professional: 1. Travel compression bags (now with portable pump) 2. Foldable toiletry bag with bare minimum necessities 3. Bags that sneakily expand 4. Convertible shoes This is all I packed for a 6 day trip to Venice, Mallorca, and a black tie wedding in Alicante! And if I can do it, so can you, becaaauussee I’m a former live-out-of-giant-suitcase gal from my decade as a nomad, but now with a home base in Italy (and Mexico), I’ve adapted to “bring as little as possible since you go back home”, both for convenience and to avoid thousands of dollars in baggage fees each year!   • The only times you don’t need an eSIM while traveling are when you literally cannot be holding a phone 😂 For all other times, easily download an eSIM like AloSIM which are really affordable at just a few dollars per day or less versus the typical $10 for international roaming!   • Traveling was not a possibility for me when I was younger, yet now I’ve reached my 150th country (out of the 197 list which includes Kosovo)!! It has taken me 12 years, I’ve done most of them solo, and many have been collaborations that I received or pitched, but anything else, including most flights was solely paid for by myself, and here’s how I did it: (But first! Comment “TRAVEL” and I’ll send you links to my tips for making money while traveling, how to play flight roulette, and also this Balkans roadtrip itinerary!) 14 years ago - I started my blog but it didn’t make much money for a couple years. I used my only money and a credit card to take my first trip. I was one of the first people to pitch the concept of “free trips in exchange for social media posts” and I sent hundreds of them, always landing at least one, but there was still so much to see! With the money I earned from my blog, paid posts, and my writing for other platforms, I’d go travel but I’d play what I called “flight roulette”, where I pick “anywhere” as the destination, and choose the cheapest flight to somewhere I hadn’t been yet! As my business grew, I needed to repeat many countries each time year, and now I still travel to an average of 25 countries per year as a traveler-by-trade (influencer/entrepreneur), with the goal of 5-10 new ones each year. I never thought I’d reach all 197 countries…but now that there’s only 47 left…do I attempt it?!?! As for making money to travel - I have a lot of posts on that and also a course, which teaches techniques for everyone, not just those wanting to be a creator!   • Traveled solo in China earlier this year and became slightly obsessed! Out of the now 150 countries I’ve been to, I think it might actually be in my top 10! That’s why I had to add it to our group trips! As my business grew, I needed to repeat many countries each time year, and now I still travel to an average of 25 countries per year as a traveler-by-trade (influencer/entrepreneur), with the goal of 5-10 new ones each year. I never thought I’d reach all 197 countries…but now that there’s only 47 left…do I attempt it?!?! As for making money to travel - I have a lot of posts on that and also a course, which teaches techniques for everyone, not just those wanting to be a creator! And for anyone who DOES want to be a creator or group trip host — my biggest advice is to find a niche personal to you, find your specific audience who can relate, and don’t just copy other people’s techniques, create new ones and stand out! Traveling was not a possibility for me when I was younger, yet now I’ve reached my 150th country (out of the 197 list which includes Kosovo)!! It has taken me 12 years, I’ve done most of them solo, and many have been collaborations that I received or pitched, but anything else, including most flights was solely paid for by myself, and here’s how I did it: (But first! Comment “TRAVEL” and I’ll send you links to my tips for making money while traveling, how to play flight roulette, and also this Balkans roadtrip itinerary!) 14 years ago - I started my blog but it didn’t make much money for a couple years. I used my only money and a credit card to take my first trip. I was one of the first people to pitch the concept of “free trips in exchange for social media posts” and I sent hundreds of them, always landing at least one, but there was still so much to see! With the money I earned from my blog, paid posts, and my writing for other platforms, I’d go travel but I’d play what I called “flight roulette”, where I pick “anywhere” as the destination, and choose the cheapest flight to somewhere I hadn’t been yet!
