Recently I had the extreme pleasure of staying at the Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur, India, which is voted as the “Best Hotel in the World” by TripAdvisor! The Umaid Bhawan Palace had some of the most incredible service you could ever imagine, from authentic Indian dancers that greet you upon arrival, to your own personal concierge to help with anything you could possibly need.
The Umaid Bhawan Palace is now run by the Taj Hotels and Resorts, but is still home to the Royal Family of Jodhpur, and is the 6th largest private residence in the world. Its architecture is said to have been inspired by a mix of the Taj Mahal in Agra, and the Angkor Wat in Cambodia. The Umaid Bhawan Palace is also considered as one of the top sites to see in Jodhpur, which is also famous for being the “Blue City”, which it gets its name from because of the large number of blue houses throughout the city.
More information on the Umaid Bhawan Palace and Jodhpur coming soon, but in the meantime, please check out this awesome video I made during my stay there!
Hey, Alyssa!
Just one curiosity: did you buy all those clothes to go India? Do they prefer that the tourists just dress up like them? How does that work?
Congrats from a Portuguese girl currently in Berlin (: *
Hi Beatriz! Yes, I bought all of the sarees and scarves (for super cheap), and in all honesty, I only wear them when I’m doing photos or videos because I wasn’t sure if I looked silly or offensive trying to dress in the local clothing. BUT! Despite a few giggles, I’ve gotten a TON of compliments and impressed-faces when I even pull out one of my sarees, and even more when they see that I’ve learned how to properly wrap them, and wear the jewelry like they do too! (Blog post about all that coming soon lol)
Wow, that sounds impressive!Thank you for your answer (:
Congrats for all your work on the blog, videos, facebook, etc. It’s a pleasure to see how you grown at this business/ lifestyle. I guess you should be very proud of yourself and hope that your mission of “Girl-Empowerment” is working and making a difference. At least in my life it is! Thank you for being such an inspiration! Thanks to you, now I truly believe dreams exist for us to turn them into reality. And tomorrow I will finish my first solo travel and I’m really proud of myself!
I really wish you the best and I’ll keep following you *
