Ain’t Nothin’ But a Miley Party

This may shock and disappoint you but she was actually very calm and collected.

By Alyssa Ramos

Like everyone else on the planet, minus the supa freaks, extremists, and people who like things purposely because everyone else doesn’t, I too was appalled and even a little upset when the seemingly sweet and innocent Miley Cyrus hacked off her pretty Hannah Montana hair and twerked her way out of “just being Miley”. Now that it is evident (to smart people) that that is exactly what she wanted to do, and even more evident that she succeeded, most of us can appreciate and even applaud her for her publicity stunts that took her from a cutesy Disney star, to a badass yet extremely talented performer who may or may not have a sex, drug, and teddy bear addiction. You would think that from her songs and performances wouldn’t you?

photo 1
I felt like my “Extreme” shirt would be appropriate for DBA…it was.

Well, I guess that’s why they call it the ENTERTAINMENT industry isn’t it? That’s right, she just mind-f*cked the shit out of all of you, she’s not like that in real life. Last Friday I was graciously invited back to the hot/sexy/freaky new night club, DBA, which if you haven’t already heard about it (see previous post), is designed by famed nightclub designer something Hammerstein, and is meant to be a blank canvas for artists to change every few months while shocking you in as many ways as possible (for instance, the last time I was there, I literally had to split my attention span between staring at Leonardo DiCaprio‘s pretty face, and comprehending what in the hell was going on on the club’s stage). Anyway, the nice marketing director invited me back, and set me up at the same front table that I was at last time Leo was there, and low and behold, who should be at the table this time but Lindsay Lohan!!! …just kidding, she’s not allowed out yet, it was Miley Cyrus.

But it was a classy Miley Cyrus, not the naked Miley Cyrus we are all so used to seeing entirely too much of. She even looked a bit strange to be so covered up wearing pants, and a lace button down shirt that surprisingly had cloth covering the boob area. See, that’s what I get for assuming things about people. Anyway, she sat at her booth calmly, with a big ole’ smile indicating approval of the even more mind-f*ing performances that were going on.

photo 3
One of the performances…try to figure it out because I can’t.

First there was a girl in a clear plastic dress with clear plastic tutu that climbed up on top of a two person…creature, and started riding it through the center of the club. Forgive me if my descriptions are terrible, but I should note that some of the things you see are so obscene that it’s hard to wrap your brain around what in the hell is even going on, and what you can remember, your brain wants to forget. This is usually around the time I start drinking heavily. Oh by the way, Usher also stopped by to say hi to Miley, people were freaking out about it, so if anyone cares, there ya go.

photo 1
Yup. That happened.

I have no idea what I was looking at in the second performance, but I took a photo if you’d like to let your mind wander, and then the third performance I distinctly remember. At first I thought it was kind of cute to see a reenactment of a clown giving birth to a person, I didn’t even get that weirded out that she was only wearing a tutu, I wrote it off as creative. Then the clown nurse delivering her placed her delicately in the bath tub on stage and started to bath her while the now creepy and terrifying clown MAN that had just given birth sat in a rocking chair. Then he got up, shooed the nurse away and began simulating eating the girl……………out. I died. I filled my cup up with vodka, and died.

Wooo Miley party! See the creepy mask dude and the teddy bear girl?

Actually I just turned my attention back to Miley’s table, which just so happened to be the next act. By the way when they say the club is “meant to continuously shock you”, they aren’t lying, at all. So of course they didn’t just bring Miley Cyrus out a bunch of bottles with sparklers on them like most clubs do. Oh no. Miley gets her sparkler bottles delivered to her from a shirtless guy in a white bondage mask and tutu (there’s a lot of tutu’s, I know), carrying a personalized bottle carrier…a girl in a fishnet bodysuit with a teddy bear head. The teddy-girl was placed on the guys lap sitting at the table, then she crawled up onto Miley’s lap, which she seemed to thoroughly enjoy. Good for her. She deserves a live teddy bear.

Before I knew it it was 2am, which means I had a good time since that is way past my bedtime of 1am. I would have walked my tired ass the two blocks to my apartment, but let’s be serious, if we’re going to be one of the only cities with Uber, we might as well use it.

  • Went to the viral Underwater Wine Cellar in Kotor, Montenegro and here's my honest feedback as someone who lives on a vineyard by the sea in Italy!

[Comment "Kotor" and I'll send you the extensive detailed Balkans Roadtrip itinerary and tips I just made, including all the info to go here!]

It's definitely a unique concept, I've only seen one other like it in Sardinia but they don't offer tastings like this. So 10/10 for the idea to do a floating barge Wine bar!

The wine was pretty good, not sure about the pricing at €55 per bottle minimum and no option for wine by the glass.

Also it was very expensive to get there... €100 for a 20 minute round-trip water taxi..

Also you don't really dive down for your own bottle they pull up a crate and take it from there but you can ask if you can go do it!

I didn't feel it was most welcoming vibe but it was also high season and they're super popular so... 🙃

What do you think? Would you spend $150+ for this experience??

  • Did you really do a Europe Roadtrip if you didn’t end up driving on a pedestrian street? That was one of my biggest travel fails of the recent Balkans Roadtrip, and it was because of a rookie mistake — Forgetting to activate my eSIM for Kosovo before driving across the border!

Your international data likely will not work well in Kosovo, so you have to get an eSIM for service, because otherwise your little blue dot will just be bouncing around everywhere and you’ll likely get lost, and led down a pedestrian street (one of the most embarassing and nerve wrecking travel fails of all time).

I recommend using @AloSIM because it’s affordable and extremely easy to use and install!

Please use my code: TRAVELMOVIE for an extra 15% off, which is especially helpful for the bigger Global eSIM packages!

Comment “Balkans” and I’ll send you my free detailed travel guide for roadtripping in the Balkans, and also a really easy step-by-step guide for how to use an eSIM!
  • Montenegro overall gets a 9 out of 10 as a luxury adventure destination! (Based on my experiences in 150 countries)

Definitely had a lot of fun, but it's also definitely a bit touristy in the main areas like Kotor and Budva..

I'd suggest checking out some of the areas closer to Albania for less crowds and chaos, and i also really liked Podgorica! There's a beautiful wine region, very cute pedestrian streets, and affordable luxury hotels!

Comment Balkans and I'll send you my Ultimate Balkans Roadtrip Travel Guide for Luxury Adventurers which covers Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia, and Albania!

  • Social media often overhypes. I know, bc i accidentally helped make that a thing. So here's my honest ratings of the luxury adventure activities we did on my recent girls' roadtrip through the Balkans!

[Comment "Balkans" and I'll send you my detailed custom itinerary here when it's ready!]

I loved Montenegro and my heart hurts seeing it in flames just after we left. Hoping everyone is alright and the earth will recover quickly,

  • Orca swimming in La Ventana, Mexico has been SUSPENDED indefinitely, but there’s more to it than you might think, so keep reading, or comment “orcas” and I’ll send you the full information about the update, future prospects, and these Sea Safari tours in general.

I know some people will automatically blame influencers for posting about swimming with orcas here (we’re used to it), but please keep in mind that many of us were posting the rules and regulations and urging people to be responsible and also that there was never an official “orca tour”, it’s always been a general Sea Safari, and seeing an orca is never guaranteed or promised.

Anyway, before the 1 year trial, there was allegedly complete chaos, with over 35 boats chasing pods and no regulations about how many boats can be near them at a time or how many swimmers and how long they could be in the water.

The trial period enforced those rules, limiting the number of boats and swimmers and how long each boat can be near the orcas. Many people listened, many did not. So that is now what the authorities are evaluating, to determine if they will continue to allow it or permanently ban it.

All of my posts had clear disclaimers about the rules and how to be a responsible traveler here, and I purposely required that people personally email me for info about the tour to make sure they understood the rules, including that there is no “orca tour” but most people still specifically asked for that.

In my opinion, after doing this experience, I don’t really think just anyone should be able to do it or run the tours…so many people just don’t listen or respect rules, and it is dangerous for the animals and themselves.

If they do allow it in the future I think it should be mandatory that a certified marine biologist is onboard most boats, that boats and captains have specific training and certifications, and that tourists have to pay an addition environmental fee so the gov can hire more people to monitor and enforce regulations. Also a smaller amount of spots allowed per day.

I don’t think observing orcas should be completely banned, otherwise people will just continue to go see them
  • Ferragosto is one of the biggest holidays in Italy, every year on August 15th! So definitely don’t come here that day unless you want to experience local celebrations in the form of beach or boat days, and massive feasts with lots of wine!

Many people celebrate with family at home or at restaurants, so make reservations in advance, and wear your feast-fit 😮‍💨😬

Same applies for boat trip reservations and the beaches that require permits in advance!

This is my 3rd summer living in Sardinia and I put all the tips on my Sardinia Travel Guide on my website! Just comment “Sardinia” and I’ll send it to you!

((Transparency — I actually don’t recommend coming here in August at all because it’s the most hot and crowded month, but if that’s your vibe, you’ll love Ferragosto!))

Have you heard of this famous Italian holiday? Can you name any of the dishes in the vid? 😁

  • You cannot go within 15 feet of animals in Antarctica. But if THEY come up to you…well…what can you do?? 😬

I’ve been to Antarctica 4 times and this was a rare occasion when a penguin suddenly waddle-ran right up to me! It took a lot of willpower not to try and bend down to get closer, but I knew to just stay still and let it observe until it walked away!

Other animals you can see in Antarctica are humpbacks, leopard seals, and Orcas!

LMK if you have any questions about Antarctica!
