If you’re looking for holiday gifts for pets that travel, sit, stay, and go fetch! Corny joke, but anyway! One of the upsides of 2020 has been that I’ve been staying in one spot more often. Which also means I’ve been able to travel with my dog Oscar!

I’ve discovered that having pets that travel is a lot easier than I thought. It just requires some extra research, paperwork, OH! And some fun little toys and treats to keep them calm, healthy, and entertained!

In fact, so far I have brought Oscar to Banff, Yosemite, Joshua Tree, and he’s currently road tripping with me all over the Yucatan in Mexico! Be sure to follow him on Instagram (@mylifesatravelpup) for pet travel tips!

Favorite Holiday Gifts for Pets that Travel: Snuffle Mat

This miniature shag rug called the Snuffle Mat by Paw 5 is all the rage right now! It’s designed to encourage natural foraging skills, and keep your pup busy for a while, by hiding treats inside of it! If you have a dog that’s a fast eater, this will also help slow them down by hiding the kibbles in it!

To be completely honest, Oscar thinks it’s his own personal rug, and loves to lay on it all day! He also plays with it like a toy! I’ll be putting it in his carrier for the next plane ride too!

CBD for Dogs

Something that’s also all the rage these days (including with humans) is therapeutic and medicinal CBD!

If you have an anxious, hyper, or attachment-issues-dog (like I do), you may want to look into the Honest Paws Calm line! Oscar is great at keeping quiet while flying, but he stands up the whole time because he’s anxious, so something like this definitely helps!

The Honest Paws Collection is made with organic, full-spectrum hemp oil with naturally occurring CBD, and other all-natural ingredients. They have several options for treats as well, from CBD oil you can put in their food, so soft chews, and even Calm Peanut Butter!

Doggie Backpack

Us travelers are all eco-conscious, which means our pups need to be as well! Nothing is worse than using non-recyclable plastic bags, which is what most doggie poo bags are made of! Pay a little extra to opt for poo bags that are eco-friendly, and biodegradable like Earth Related!

Dog Swaddle Carrier

Yes, this might look absolutely ridiculous to some people. BUT! If you’re an active traveler, or have an anxious dog, this dog swaddle works wonders! I use it when hiking or camping since my dog is very small and gets tired often.

It also works well while riding a bike, or even in the car if you want to keep them calm on your lap!

Emotional Support Animal Certification

Speaking of anxiety, if you legitimately have it, or any other mental health disorder, you can get your dog certified as an emotional support animal! Be sure to do it through a legitimate program like CertaPet, which requires you to have a call with an actual therapist for evaluation.

Once you are approved by a therapist, you will get an official letter stating that your pet is an ESA. You can use it to fly with your pet on your lap, and without having to pay a fee! You can also use it to stay at places that aren’t normally pet friendly!

The ultimate double win for holiday gifts for pets that travel AND their owners is GREENIES! For some reason dogs are obsessed with them, and that’s great, because they clean their teeth! They also make their breath fresh! Yay!

Non-Rawhide Bones

One of the many things I learned back in the day when I was a vet tech, was that raw hide is very bad for dogs! It’s hard to digest and can get stuck in their intestines! This was sad news, because my dog LOVES those little bones!

So I found a solution! Non-Rawhide SmartBones that are safe for your dog! They will keep them entertained for hours too! I always put one in Oscar’s carrier when we are on flights to distract him. It also helps pop his ears!

Shark Fin Life Vest

If you’re traveling somewhere where there’s water, you need this adorable shark fin life vest! One of my biggest fears is my dog falling in water and drowning (since he tries to follow me literally everywhere), so I just stick this life vest on him for peace of mind! Plus, it’s REALLY cute!

Tropical Vacation Pet Outfit

You may or may not be the type of person who puts clothes on your dog. If you are, or know someone who is, these are some seriously cute holiday gifts for pets that travel! I mean, how adorable are those mini sunglasses that come with this tropical vacation pet outfit??!

Doggie Tent for Pets that Travel

For travelers who love the beach, but it may be a bit too hot for doggo, there’s these doggie tents! I’ve tried using umbrellas, but found these mini tents work a lot better, and make my pup feel more comfortable. They also work in cold weather destinations as well, especially if you don’t want them getting your tent dirty!

Or Pet TeePee

This is mostly just one of the holiday gifts for pets that travel that is for purely cute reasons. It might not be convenient to pack, but a pet teepee will sure look adorable in photos!

Easy Holiday Gifts for Pets that Travel: Pet Wipes

If you’re staying in hotels with your pet, or if your pet sleeps in the bed with you in general, you should always have EarthRated pet wipes! You’d be shocked at how dirty their little feet get when walking outside! Pet wipes are specially formulated to be gentle on their paws while cleaning and moisturizing them!

These are also great for dogs that always get tear stains, or that like to roll around on the floor! Plus they’re plant based and compostable!

Slow Treater

If you want to distract your pet, especially for a bath, check out this Slow Treater! You can put treats or peanut butter in it, stick it to the wall, and distract them while you bathe or brush them!

FURminator is the most notorious brand for pet brushes! It was first to come out with an easy tool to help get rid of loose undercoat fur to prevent shedding! If you have a pet that sheds, you definitely need one of these!

Or, if your dog doesn’t shed (like mine!) but you need a good option to still comb thick undercoat fur, check out the brush on the left, which is what I use!

I have a couple of friends who have the Furbo Dog Camera, and they absolutely love it! Might even be addicted to it! If you miss your doggo while you’re out exploring, or are worried about what they might get up to while alone, this gadget is for you!

You can see the area you set it up in at any time, and you can even talk to your pet through it! Best of all, you can throw treats to your dog from it just by tapping a button on your phone!

Collapsible Food & Water Bowls

This new foldable-top water bowl attached to a water bottle is also all the rage right now. I personally use collapsible food and water bowls (and bring a separate water bottle) but this product comes with all of it!

Doggy Icecream

Last but not least is this maple bacon flavored icecream for dogs! Obviously awesome, but also ideal to travel with, because it comes dry, and all you need to do is add water when you get to your destination, and freeze it! Your traveling doggo will love you for it!

  • I was one of the last foreigners permitted in Virunga National Park in D.R. Congo before it was closed due to many armed and dangerous groups occupying it. That experience was one of the most memorable ones in my life, and part of why I’ll always say DRC is one of my favorite destinations I’ve been to (4 times). But DRC is also one of the most corrupt countries, with some of the most horrific ongoing atrocities committed on the local Congolese people, the environment, and the animals by greedy, heartless humans. Deforestation, illegal mining for minerals used to make your electronics, and destruction (plus human abuse) are a part of why the animals there suffer. Poaching for bushmeat and to steal baby primates to sell as pets is another. If you’ve ever seen a primate, especially chimpanzees, kept as a personal pet or on display, its parents were likely killed so it could be kidnapped. UAE and Gulf countries, Thailand, China, Eastern EU countries, and even people in the USA are all guilty of this. That’s why one of the organizations I’ve become an ambassador for in D.R.Congo is @lwiro_primates . Lwiro Primates take in injured, abandoned, and smuggled primates, and they rehabilitate and care for them, even during a time when their own homeland is a very scary please. So I am kindly asking today on World Giving Day for Apes, to send them a donation, or at least share their story or the info in this post. Anything helps, nothing does not. And if you ever see a chimp as a pet, please ask the owner if they’re aware that its parents were likely killed just for it to be kidnapped and forced to be a pet. 😡 The link to the fundraiser is on Lwiro’s page and I’ll share on my Stories! I’ve brought about 100 travelers to D.R.Congo, and they all can attest to what a beautiful and unique place it is. I pray and dream for the day that we can safely return there and bring tourism back.   • Just confirming that Haveli restaurant has the best rooftop view in Lahore! Make a reservation because it's always busy and ask to sit closest to the mosque! The entire building of Haveli is beautiful and fascinating! A former mansion that's ornately decorated, and located in an area that was formerly infamous for..brothels! Now, largely thanks to tourism demand, this area of Lahore is a lot cleaner and safer than it used to be, and it offers some of the most spectacular sites to see, both from above and below! What would you rate this view from 1 to 10??
  • Made it to Skardu without any flight issues! Flights to and from the mountain region of Pakistan have a pretty high rate of cancellation due to unpredictable weather... And speaking of unpredictable weather, the reports said it would be really cold, but it was warm, so i "had to" go shopping for shalwar kameez as soon as I arrived 😍 Then it was off to the Shangri La Lake for some pink tea before making the drive to Shigar cold desert for a sunset horseback riding session, before settling into a beautiful riverfront boutique resort! Everyone says you have to go to the northern mountains of Pakistan, and now I see why! This place is magical and I only have a few days to explore! PS did you know that this region has the highest number of world's tallest mountain peaks, it has has both deserts and lakes at extremely high altitudes, and also the largest glaciers in the world aside from the polar regions?? The Golden Eagles are a staple of ancient nomadic culture here, and today are showcased in the National Parks and other areas to keep their culture alive and educated about! These giant birds were used to hunt and as status symbols, and are like family members to the owners! Is Kyrgyzstan on your to-go list?

I was one of the last foreigners permitted in Virunga National Park in D.R. Congo before it was closed due to many armed and dangerous groups occupying it. That experience was one of the most memorable ones in my life, and part of why I’ll always say DRC is one of my favorite destinations I’ve been to (4 times). But DRC is also one of the most corrupt countries, with some of the most horrific ongoing atrocities committed on the local Congolese people, the environment, and the animals by greedy, heartless humans. Deforestation, illegal mining for minerals used to make your electronics, and destruction (plus human abuse) are a part of why the animals there suffer. Poaching for bushmeat and to steal baby primates to sell as pets is another. If you’ve ever seen a primate, especially chimpanzees, kept as a personal pet or on display, its parents were likely killed so it could be kidnapped. UAE and Gulf countries, Thailand, China, Eastern EU countries, and even people in the USA are all guilty of this. That’s why one of the organizations I’ve become an ambassador for in D.R.Congo is @lwiro_primates . Lwiro Primates take in injured, abandoned, and smuggled primates, and they rehabilitate and care for them, even during a time when their own homeland is a very scary please. So I am kindly asking today on World Giving Day for Apes, to send them a donation, or at least share their story or the info in this post. Anything helps, nothing does not. And if you ever see a chimp as a pet, please ask the owner if they’re aware that its parents were likely killed just for it to be kidnapped and forced to be a pet. 😡 The link to the fundraiser is on Lwiro’s page and I’ll share on my Stories! I’ve brought about 100 travelers to D.R.Congo, and they all can attest to what a beautiful and unique place it is. I pray and dream for the day that we can safely return there and bring tourism back. The Photo VS the Moment in Skardu, Pakistan (wait for the videos after the photo) for anyone who thinks getting photos is easy, behold, freezing water, climbing on rocks, and magical geese who apparently want to be featured in the pics.! Just confirming that Haveli restaurant has the best rooftop view in Lahore! Make a reservation because it's always busy and ask to sit closest to the mosque! The entire building of Haveli is beautiful and fascinating! A former mansion that's ornately decorated, and located in an area that was formerly infamous for..brothels! Now, largely thanks to tourism demand, this area of Lahore is a lot cleaner and safer than it used to be, and it offers some of the most spectacular sites to see, both from above and below! What would you rate this view from 1 to 10??

Made it to Skardu without any flight issues! Flights to and from the mountain region of Pakistan have a pretty high rate of cancellation due to unpredictable weather... And speaking of unpredictable weather, the reports said it would be really cold, but it was warm, so i "had to" go shopping for shalwar kameez as soon as I arrived 😍 Then it was off to the Shangri La Lake for some pink tea before making the drive to Shigar cold desert for a sunset horseback riding session, before settling into a beautiful riverfront boutique resort! Everyone says you have to go to the northern mountains of Pakistan, and now I see why! This place is magical and I only have a few days to explore! PS did you know that this region has the highest number of world's tallest mountain peaks, it has has both deserts and lakes at extremely high altitudes, and also the largest glaciers in the world aside from the polar regions?? More coming soon! Do you want to visit Skardu??
