Beach Walks, whale watching, and wine tasting – the Oregon coast is ideal for a low-key gathering in a stunning natural setting. When temps cool off in fall so do the crowds. The charming town of Cannon Beach is only 1.5 hours from Portland and set on a gorgeous stretch of beach. September also features the annual Earth & Ocean Arts Festival.

Oregon Coast Highlights

-Enjoy Oregon’s spectacular coast on oceanfront trails or beach walks.

-Spot grey whales. Relax seaside with a glass of Oregon Pinot and a set of binoculars, or take a whale-watching tour.

-Follow the “North Coast Craft Beer Trail” or the “North Coast Food Trail”. Even better, do both.

Nashville Girls’ Trip

If you're looking for exciting girls trip ideas, look no further than Nashville, Tennessee, where you can find exciting events, good food, and plenty of things to sightsee.
If you’re looking for exciting girls trip ideas, look no further than Nashville, Tennessee, where you can find exciting events, good food, and plenty of things to sightsee.

Nashville combines the soul of music, the flavours of the south and an interesting history in one fun-filled destination. There’s nothing quite like seeing aspiring singers perform in a honky tonk bar; it’s a quintessential Nashville experience. Some might say that riding a mechanical bull is another, but we won’t go that far.

What to do in Nashville

-Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge is the classic spot for live music, but that’s just your first stop on Lower Broadway. Let the bar hopping begin.

-Channel your favourite country-music star on a behind-the-scenes tour of the Grand Ole Opry House.

-Explore one of Nashville’s trendy neighbourhoods. In “12 South” check out Imogene + Willy and the flagship location of Reese Witherspoon’s store, Draper James. Afterward, celebrate your shopping wins with a fancy cocktail.

Savannah Girls’ Trip

Getting inspiration to gather girls trip ideas can be difficult, but once Savannah, Georgia, is on the table, you'll be overflowing with ideas and fun things to do in this cute, historic town.
Getting inspiration to gather girls trip ideas can be difficult, but once Savannah, Georgia, is on the table, you’ll be overflowing with ideas and fun things to do in this cute, historic town.

Fall in Savannah is ideal, not too hot or cold, it’s just right. This charming southern city lends itself to leisurely walks admiring stately homes in the shadows of towering oaks. The food is also fabulous and the fall weather is often ideal for a beach visit.

Savannah Highlights

– Take a walking tour through Savannah’s historic district to admire the well-preserved architecture and gorgeous homes.

– Enjoy a meal at one of Savannah’s culinary standouts such as Husk.

– Visit Tybee Island for some beach time, only 20 minutes from Savannah.

New York City Girls’ Trip

You can't come up with girls trip ideas without considering New York City. Here, you can explore all the sites - like the Brooklyn Bridge, Central Park, and the Rockefeller Center - or you can see a Broadway show, enjoy the food, or visit the museums.

There’s nothing quite like the energy of New York City. There’s truly something for every girl on your trip, and since New York is made for walking, fall is the perfect time  to visit.

See & Do in NYC with the Girls

-Walk the Highline for an elevated view of the city’s architecture and the Hudson River.

-Visit the Museum of Modern Art. It’s not all contemporary – it has a diverse collection of art from 1880 on, including Van Gogh’s Starry Night.

-Walk across the Brooklyn Bridge to see the city skyline and get a glimpse of the Statue of Liberty.

-Shop, eat, drink. Repeat.

Boulder Colorado Girls’ Trip

If you're looking for girls trip ideas for the adventure lover, be sure you check out Boulder, Colorado. This place is perfect for anyone who likes activity!
If you’re looking for girls trip ideas for the adventure lover, be sure you check out Boulder, Colorado. This place is perfect for anyone who likes activity!

Boulder is a cute city at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains with a fun outdoorsy vibe and great food. Add to that nearby Rocky Mountain National Park, and this is a girls’ trip for ladies who like to be active as well as indulgent.

Exploring Boulder

-Visit Boulder’s pedestrian-only “Pearl Street Mall” for dining, shopping and art.

-Explore Rocky Mountain National Park for spectacular scenery and wildlife viewing. Fall is elk breeding season so don’t be alarmed if you hear a strange howling sound. The elk are just looking for dates, also known as “bugling”.

-Take a hike to get up close to the Flatirons, Boulder’s iconic sandstone rock formations.

Maui Girls Trip

One of the best girls trip ideas for fall is Maui, Hawaii. There are endless things to do, the weather is perfect, and you can expect better prices!
One of the best girls trip ideas for fall is Maui, Hawaii. There are endless things to do, the weather is perfect, and you can expect better prices!

All of the Hawaiian islands are beautiful but Maui has the perfect combo of relaxed luxury and lots to do – ideal for girls who like to mix beach time with being active. Bonus: Maui prices are typically lower in fall than summer and the weather is ideal until around mid November.

What to do on a Maui Girls Trip

-Maui is known to offer the best snorkeling of all the Hawaiian islands, much of it right off the beach. Take a day trip to nearby Molokini, a volcanic crater with exceptional visibility and 250 fish species.

-Explore Paia Town on the windy north shore. The nearby beaches are a great spot to watch pro surfers and windsurfers.

-For serious foodies, have a meal at Mama’s Fish House, considered one of the best restaurants in the U.S. by TripAdvisor. It’s pricey but unforgettable. Book waaaay ahead.

Napa Valley Girls’ Trip

One of the classic girls trip ideas would have to be Napa Valley.
One of the classic girls trip ideas would have to be Napa Valley.

Harvest season is when Napa Valley really comes alive. Green leaves become tinged with gold and the air fills with excitement – and the smell of crushed grapes. Lots of special events are held in fall, so your group of gals will be entertained. (Note: unlike other destinations on this list, fall is busy in Napa so book ahead.)

Napa Trip Highlights

-A wine tour will allow you to imbibe without having to drive, and learn important things like the difference between cuveé and demi-sec.

-Napa may have as many spas as wineries. Spend the day enjoying thermal pools, getting a massage and lunching, with a glass of wine of course.

-Fabulous dining abounds in Napa. Try Bistro Don Giovanni for delish Italian in a lovely setting. For brunch I loved the Boon Fly Cafe. Santé!

Palm Beach Girls’ Trip

If your ideal list of girls trip ideas includes relaxing times at the beach, warm weather, and upscale dining, then Palm Beach, Florida, is the perfect location for you.
If your ideal list of girls trip ideas includes relaxing times at the beach, warm weather, and upscale dining, then Palm Beach, Florida, is the perfect location for you.

Palm Beach is in fact an island, adding to the serenity and appeal of this gorgeous town in south Florida. With stunning beaches, upscale dining and chic boutiques this is the spot for girls who like a luxe getaway. Pass the champagne.

Fun in the Palm Beach Sun

-Meander on Worth Avenue, a mix of high-end designers, galleries and creative up-and-comers. Stop in at Lilly Pulitzer’s store and enjoy a cocktail while you design your own Lily shift dress.

-Get a glimpse into the gilded age with a visit to the Henry Morrison Flagler Museum, the railroad tycoon’s stunning estate.

-Cruise the intracoastal waterway on a catamaran adventure or yacht charter. Time to refill the champagne glasses.

Austin Girls’ Trip

Girls trip ideas that are chill, fun, and filled with plenty of music and good food should be based out of Austin, Texas.
Girls trip ideas that are chill, fun, and filled with plenty of music and good food should be based out of Austin, Texas.

Austin in fall, y’all. Fall is a great time to visit this fun-filled Texas town. Enjoy live music, eat delicious street food and float in a swimming hole on a warm afternoon. September and October are still hot, but not the unpleasant “Texas-summer” kind of hot.

What to See and do in Austin

-Enjoy live music at one of the small venues in the Red River cultural district.

-Get out on the water with a paddle on Lady Bird Lake, or take a dip in the local “swimming hole”, the Barton Springs pool.

-Find a hidden Austin speakeasy and have a fancy cocktail. You’ll feel like you’re breaking the rules, but in a good way.

Sedona Girls’ Trip

Sedona has some of the most stunning landscapes on earth, so if you're looking for memorable girls trip ideas, be sure you consider this gem.

  • Orca swimming in La Ventana, Mexico has been SUSPENDED indefinitely, but there’s more to it than you might think, so keep reading, or comment “orcas” and I’ll send you the full information about the update, future prospects, and these Sea Safari tours in general.

I know some people will automatically blame influencers for posting about swimming with orcas here (we’re used to it), but please keep in mind that many of us were posting the rules and regulations and urging people to be responsible and also that there was never an official “orca tour”, it’s always been a general Sea Safari, and seeing an orca is never guaranteed or promised.

Anyway, before the 1 year trial, there was allegedly complete chaos, with over 35 boats chasing pods and no regulations about how many boats can be near them at a time or how many swimmers and how long they could be in the water.

The trial period enforced those rules, limiting the number of boats and swimmers and how long each boat can be near the orcas. Many people listened, many did not. So that is now what the authorities are evaluating, to determine if they will continue to allow it or permanently ban it.

All of my posts had clear disclaimers about the rules and how to be a responsible traveler here, and I purposely required that people personally email me for info about the tour to make sure they understood the rules, including that there is no “orca tour” but most people still specifically asked for that.

In my opinion, after doing this experience, I don’t really think just anyone should be able to do it or run the tours…so many people just don’t listen or respect rules, and it is dangerous for the animals and themselves.

If they do allow it in the future I think it should be mandatory that a certified marine biologist is onboard most boats, that boats and captains have specific training and certifications, and that tourists have to pay an addition environmental fee so the gov can hire more people to monitor and enforce regulations. Also a smaller amount of spots allowed per day.

I don’t think observing orcas should be completely banned, otherwise people will just continue to go see them
  • Ferragosto is one of the biggest holidays in Italy, every year on August 15th! So definitely don’t come here that day unless you want to experience local celebrations in the form of beach or boat days, and massive feasts with lots of wine!

Many people celebrate with family at home or at restaurants, so make reservations in advance, and wear your feast-fit 😮‍💨😬

Same applies for boat trip reservations and the beaches that require permits in advance!

This is my 3rd summer living in Sardinia and I put all the tips on my Sardinia Travel Guide on my website! Just comment “Sardinia” and I’ll send it to you!

((Transparency — I actually don’t recommend coming here in August at all because it’s the most hot and crowded month, but if that’s your vibe, you’ll love Ferragosto!))

Have you heard of this famous Italian holiday? Can you name any of the dishes in the vid? 😁

  • You cannot go within 15 feet of animals in Antarctica. But if THEY come up to you…well…what can you do?? 😬

I’ve been to Antarctica 4 times and this was a rare occasion when a penguin suddenly waddle-ran right up to me! It took a lot of willpower not to try and bend down to get closer, but I knew to just stay still and let it observe until it walked away!

Other animals you can see in Antarctica are humpbacks, leopard seals, and Orcas!

LMK if you have any questions about Antarctica!

Unlike regular diving, snorkeling, or swimming, you must always be highly alert, ready to respond, and on the go if you want to try to keep up with them!

The ultimate workaholic-ADHD-adventurer’s dream hobby, do you agree?

  • Before the term “influencer” or “content creator” existed, I was one of the original travel bloggers, unknowingly helping pioneer what is now a multibillion dollar Creator Industry.

I helped transform solo female travel from taboo to trendy, and taught thousands of people how to work remotely and build a brand.

I’ve done so much more than just create content, although hardly anyone sees the behind the scenes. And it’s been 14 years that I’ve owned the title of travel bloggers/influencer so…

Allow me to re-introduce myself.

I am Alyssa Ramos, the founder of My Life’s a Travel Movie brand, one of the very first travel “influencers” and one of the pioneers of the creator industry, of normalizing solo female travel today, of influencer-hosted group trips, and of getting paid to travel via social media!

I started my blog in 2012, then started using social media to promote it in 2014, earning me the title of “influencer”but what was never fully seen was the entrepreneur behind it who helped create an entire new industry with no money and when hardly anyone believed it would work.

Soon after I became one of the first travel blogger/influencers to make a full time living from it, I was asked to speak at conferences, interviewed in the press, and I was one of the very first people to make the courses about how it’s done (they didn’t exist when I started!)

I had a big dream to get paid to travel the world, and to normalize solo female travel, and once I succeeded, I kept going.

Today I am not only a travel influencer, but also a humanitarian, animal activist, a trailblazer, an author, speaker, writer, entrepreneur and…one of the most experienced solo female travelers in the world.

So far I’ve been to over 150 countries (off the 197 list), all 7 continents (Antarctica 4x), and I average 20 countries per year.

Now I’m going bigger. I’m launching a travel show, more speaker events, writing another book, and I’ve started the Travel Tribe Foundation to give back through my group trips.

Thank you everyone who has been here with me for so long, and welcome to anyone new!

  • I thought I was going to shipwreck trying to get to an existing shipwreck in the Solomon Islands…and I was traveling solo with just a fisherman driving me on his small boat. 😳

But! We made it, even with a massive storm approaching, and I experienced one of the most incredible “my life’s a travel movie” moments in my 12 years of continuous solo traveling!!

I truly felt like I was in a movie! The ship is an old cruise ship that hit rocks and slowly sank as it washed ashore on Roderick’s Bay. It’s only half sunk, so you can swim around it (it’s super creepy and dangerous, don’t do it alone), and since it’s completely unregulated, you can also climb it and zip line into the water (also dangerous, can’t recommend)

The angle of the ship also created one of the most vibrant marine sanctuaries I’ve seen in a while, with lots of actual colorful coral and fish (including clown fish!)

I went to Solomon Islands after my second trip to Papua New Guinea, on my quest to slow solo travel to every country in the world.

Would I go back to the shipwreck? Probably not. That boat ride was terrifying. But I’d go back to see more of the islands in the Solomon’s, there’s so many!

Would you brave the ride to get to this shipwreck?

For any fellow extreme adventurers, my Solomon Islands travel tips and itinerary is on my website linked in bio!

Thank you everyone who has been here with me for so long, and welcome to anyone new! To follow along with my updates, please comment “travel

Before the term “influencer” or “content creator” existed, I was one of the original travel bloggers, unknowingly helping pioneer what is now a multibillion dollar Creator Industry. I helped transform solo female travel from taboo to trendy, and taught thousands of people how to work remotely and build a brand. I’ve done so much more than just create content, although hardly anyone sees the behind the scenes. And it’s been 14 years that I’ve owned the title of travel bloggers/influencer so… Allow me to re-introduce myself. Soon after I became one of the first travel blogger/influencers to make a full time living from it, I was asked to speak at conferences, interviewed in the press, and I was one of the very first people to make the courses about how it’s done (they didn’t exist when I started!) I had a big dream to get paid to travel the world, and to normalize solo female travel, and once I succeeded, I kept going. I thought I was going to shipwreck trying to get to an existing shipwreck in the Solomon Islands…and I was traveling solo with just a fisherman driving me on his small boat. 😳 But! It’s only half sunk, so you can swim around it (it’s super creepy and dangerous, don’t do it alone), and since it’s completely unregulated, you can also climb it and zip line into the water (also dangerous, can’t recommend) The angle of the ship also created one of the most vibrant marine sanctuaries I’ve seen in a while, with lots of actual colorful coral and fish (including clown fish!) I went to Solomon Islands after my second trip to Papua New Guinea, on my quest to slow solo travel to every country in the world. ———————- For anyone new here: Hi! I’m Alyssa Ramos of @mylifesatravelmovie - one of the most traveled and most experienced solo female travelers in the world! I’ve been to 146 countries so far over 12 years, and love rare destinations and animals! My goal is to inspire you to travel off the typical path and to shatter negative stereotypes about “dangerous” destinations. Follow me for expert tips and inspiration!
