Whether you’re flying solo or coupled up, these twenty cheapest flights for Valentine’s Day in 2020 will be sure to fill your heart with joy!

While doing my own research for a Valentine’s Day getaway, I got super excited to see how cheap roundtrip flights were from LA! All of these twenty flights are under $400 and range from the U.S. all the way to Europe!

I’ve given my two cents on each location, and why I think it’s great for either solo travelers, couples, or both! Because whether you’re loving yourself or your boo this Valentine’s Day, it’s better to do it while traveling!

Las Vegas, U.S. ($50)

Whether you’re single AF and looking to party, or in a relationship and looking for the ultimate date weekend, there’s something for everyone in Las Vegas!

I know, I know, you may not immediately think “romantic” when you think of Vegas. But trust me! It’s home to some of the U.S.’s top restaurants, iconic shows, not to mention luxurious hotels that you can get for the ultimate steal! Plus flights start at just $50 roundtrip! Putting it at the top of my list of the twenty cheapest flights for Valentine’s Day in 2020!

Austin, Dallas, Houston, Texas ($75-100)

Several cities in Texas are extremely cheap to fly to right now! While I haven’t been there personally, the cheap roundtrip tickets have me considering booking a flight just to experience a city other than my own!

If you’re looking for something more mellow yet still exciting this Valentine’s Day, book a trip to one of the three main cities in Texas!

New Orleans, USA ($118)

Here’s another U.S. destination that appeals both if you’re single or in a relationship! For those flying solo, you’ll be sure to meet plenty of friends as you stumble along Bourbon Street!

And if you’re in a relationship, you’ll love the quaint cafes, delicious restaurants, and lively nightlife that never ends! New Orleans is like a foreign city, right here in the U.S., which makes for an awesome weekend getaway!

Guadalajara, Mexico ($175)

Dubbed the cultural hub of Mexico, and a destination that has become extremely popular amongst local millennials. That being said, it’s highly likely you’ll find quite a few other people flying solo on Valentine’s Day in Guadalajara!

If you’re in a relationship, you an boo can enjoy enchanting little towns, delicious Mexican food, and even a day trip on the famous Jose Cuervo Tequila Train! Or if you just want to get out of the country, Mexico tops the list of international cheapest flights for Valentine’s Day in 2020!

Cancun, Mexico ($250)

A flight to paradise is more affordable than you think! For less than $300 you can get a roundtrip flight to Cancun, where you can spend time at one of the many all-inclusive resorts, or head off on an adventure!

From Cancun you can get to Isla Mujeres, Playa del Carmen, or take a roadtrip to Tulum and even Chichen Itza!

This whole area is extremely popular for digital nomads and tourists a like, so whether you’re solo or not, you’ll have a blast!

Calgary, Canada ($318)

Want to go on an epic adventure this Valentine’s Day? Grab one of these cheap flights to Calgary where you can rent a car and head to Banff National Park!

It’ll be less crowded right now, but still enough people to make you feel comfortable if you decide to head there solo! For couples, this was also super fun to do as a camper van roadtrip!

Roatan, Honduras ($260)

Off the northern coast of Honduras is an exotic little island called Roatan! It’s perfect for couples who want an affordable romantic escape, but also great for solo travelers looking for a true adventure!

You’ll need to fly into San Pedro Sula first which isn’t safe, so be careful! I’d advise immediately flying to Roatan!

San Juan, Puerto Rico $267

Puerto Rico is a hidden gem that has so many incredible things to see, for super affordable prices! You can see the glowing Bioluminescent Bay which is the brightest one in the world, and the lush jungles farther inland.

Or, you can just relax at one of the many beautiful beaches around the islands! It’s the perfect easy-escape for both solo travelers or couples!

Dublin, Ireland $273

What?! A roundtrip flight to Ireland for under $300? Grab it while it lasts! This is one epic adventure that’s perfect for everyone, especially if you’re in need of a little luck!

For a little added romance, rent a car and head to the highlands! The rolling green hills are nothing short of magical!

St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands $305

Get your fancy Caribbean vacation for a fraction of the cost you’re probably imagining! Flights to the U.S. VIrgin Islands are super cheap right now, and will make for the perfect Valentine’s Day vacation!

Spend the weekend basking in the sun on a white-sand beach with your boo, or grab a book and treat yo-self to a solo vacation!

Paris, France $317

Let’s be real. You and/or your babe are likely going to spend close to $300 on Valentine’s Day. It might as well be on a flight to the most romantic city in the World!

Seriously though! Forget the gifts, flowers, candy, or expensive dinner! You can fly to PARIS for the week for only $317! Who cares if you have to stay in hostels or AirBnB’s to maintain the rest of your budget! Valentine’s day under the Eiffel Tower is tres magnifique!

Guatemala City $318

Definitely an adventure you probably would have never expected! You have ancient ruins, you have a lake surrounded by volcanoes, you have culturally rich towns where you can buy all sorts of colorful goodies!

Guatemala is a destination that I left pleasantly surprised by, and would highly recommend it whether your’e solo in coupled up!

Medellin, Colombia $320

Colombia has been having cheap flights for a while now, and more and more people are taking advantage of it! While Colombia used to have a bad rep for travelers, it’s been gaining positive reviews and popularity!

While my top pick would be Cartagena for its colorful streets and proximity to the beaches, the current cheapest flight is to Medellin. Perks are that you can catch a cheap domestic flight from Medellin to Cartagena!

San Jose, Costa Rica $345

If you’re looking to escape Valentine’s Day all together, my top pick would be Costa Rica. There’s so many solo travelers, expats, digital nomads, and young locals there, that you’ll forget it’s even a day for romance!

Plus with so many adventures and activities, you’ll be more focused on loving yourself than thinking about being alone!

Havana, Cuba $350

Is half of your heart in Havana (na-na-na)? There’s only one way to find out! Flights are extremely cheap right now due to the lack of tourism from our government issues, so as long as you can qualify for one of the visas, you’re good to go get your Cuba Libre on!

Solo travelers will love the fun, safe, energetic environment of Havana. Couples will love the sultry Havana nights, and overall vibe of sexy romance!

London, United Kingdom $350

Tea time, famous sites, and plenty of fun things to do! Originally I was going to say London is ideal for just solo travelers…because of how many single people with cute accents there are there, but recently I went as a couple and can vouch for its romanticness!

One of my favorite things to do in London was the Bustronome tour, which serves you a five course meal while driving you to the top sites in the city!

Managua, Nicaragua $380

Here’s another up and coming country in Central America, Nicaragua! I can only remember going here for a wedding, but that should be an indication that it’s a great destination for Valentine’s Day!

Think of it as a lesser known Costa Rica, which means all the jungle-adventures for a fraction of the cost!

Rome, Italy $380

Anyone for a romantic Valentine’s Day weekend in Italy? Whether you’re taking yourself out for some wine and pasta, or cozying up with bae Lady and the Tramp style. Italy has something for everyone!

What’s not to love about Italy, especially with roundtrip flights under $400! Plus, you can get domestic flights to other awesome areas for under $100! For example, one way to Venice is only $35!

Amsterdam, Netherlands $380

Amsterdam is more than just a place where weed and prostitution are legal, I swear! In the recent years, Amsterdam has re-vamped its image to more cutesey canals lined with flower-adorned windows, and fields of tulips.

It’s an adorable city that’s accessible by foot, bike, or boat! It’s also super popular for solo travelers!

Copenhagen, Denmark $400

Want to get happy this Valentine’s Day? Head to one of the top ranked happy places on earth, Denmark! Where worries are low and spirits are high!

If you go in February for Valentine’s Day, you can enjoy less crowds in the chilly weather. Plus you’ll have cheap flights and train tickets to neighboring countries like Norway, Sweden, and Finland, which are ideal for seeing the Northern Lights!

  • Before the term “influencer” or “content creator” existed, I was one of the original travel bloggers, unknowingly helping pioneer what is now a multibillion dollar Creator Industry.   • I thought I was going to shipwreck trying to get to an existing shipwreck in the Solomon Islands…and I was traveling solo with just a fisherman driving me on his small boat. 😳 But! We made it, even with a massive storm approaching, and I experienced one of the most incredible “my life’s a travel movie” moments in my 12 years of continuous solo traveling!! I truly felt like I was in a movie! The ship is an old cruise ship that hit rocks and slowly sank as it washed ashore on Roderick’s Bay. It’s only half sunk, so you can swim around it (it’s super creepy and dangerous, don’t do it alone), and since it’s completely unregulated, you can also climb it and zip line into the water (also dangerous, can’t recommend) The angle of the ship also created one of the most vibrant marine sanctuaries I’ve seen in a while, with lots of actual colorful coral and fish (including clown fish!) I went to Solomon Islands after my second trip to Papua New Guinea, on my quest to slow solo travel to every country in the world. Would I go back to the shipwreck? Probably not. That boat ride was terrifying. But I’d go back to see more of the islands in the Solomon’s, there’s so many! Would you brave the ride to get to this shipwreck?   • D. R. Congo and Silverback Gorillas both have reputations for being extremely dangerous, and that’s true, to an extent. But hear me out. First a disclaimer: I am one of the most experienced solo female travelers in the world, and I also have a degree in Animal Science plus extensive experience with wild animals. All of my animal encounters are ethical, researched, and done with professionals. My goal is to promote responsible animal tourism that actually benefits and protects the animals, Don’t try to do any of them on your own! Ok so the Mountain Gorillas! Yes, they can be extremely dangerous! However, many of them have been socialized, and are therefore accepting of human visitors (and very curious) Gorilla trekking tourism is what protects these beautiful animals, because it generates more money to have them alive, so it forces the govs and other orgs to implement strict rules and anti-poaching efforts! In fact, these gorillas were almost poached to extinction before trekking became popular, and now most of the trackers (people paid to find the gorillas to trek to) are former poachers! I’ve gone gorilla trekking 5 times and it’s always a safe and beautiful experience (the trek is difficult though and can be up to 8 hours through thick jungle) Now about D.R. Congo…. Shortly after my first solo travels there, Virunga National Park closed and remains closed due to armed conflict with rebel groups..: I still went to visit Goma several more times, and I truly love Congo, but I will be waiting with anticipation for the safety to increase, because the gorillas in DRC were my top favorite see!   • I have a “bucketlist tattoo” that I add to when I complete a major bucketlist check! This one was a double check: seeing a wild Polar Bear and reaching my farthest latitude north (so far): 82 degrees North! For reference, the geographic North Pole is at 90 degrees North, so we were very close to it! Maybe one day I’ll reach it! There’s only one tattoo shop in Longyearbyen, therefore it’s officially the northernmost tattoo shop!   • This is my 3rd year being an American living on a vineyard in Italy (married the owner!) and I def have a lot of tea/wine to spill about it 😂 People have this dreamy or glamorous “Emily in Rome”-esque idea about traveling to Italy, falling in love, preferably with someone who owns a vineyard, and living happily ever after…well I did that, and it can be a bit more “difficile vita” than “dolce vita” at times!   • I’ve swam with Orcas, a crocodile, and my for-fun hobby is shark diving, but I draw the line at poisonous swimming snakes. 🙅‍♀️🐍 It really just came up to me like that when I was sitting on the beach on an island in New Caledonia! I had been contemplating going swimming with the turtles nearby, but changed my mind after I saw this! This was a “Blake-banded Sea Krait”, common to this area in the South Pacific Islands, I’ve heard several divers say they’ve seen them! But no thanks, I prefer sharks. 😂 Animal safety tip: as an experienced animal encounteress, i never ever suggest provoking or trying to “fight off” any dangerous animal that isn’t actively trying to attack you. Stay calm and still and let it pass like I did in this video. Then, feel free to run. (Jk I’d still suggest carefully and slowly backing a way, keeping an eye on it).   • I’ve stayed at over 500 hotels in my 12 years of traveling to around 20 countries per year, here’s 20 that absolutely blew my mind and I cannot forget!! Costs around $2-4k per night and doesn’t include the transfer to get to the island… Check out my Shebara blog post for full details! Probably the most bizarre hotel I’ve ever stayed at is this one in Turkmenistan. It’s known as “the wedding hotel” bc it’s where most people have their receptions, but the ground floor wing behind me is open for tourists….except, I was the only one there and it seemed like it had been empty for a while.. You can’t book hotels on your own in Turkmenistan, you have to take a tour and have a letter of invitation. Full blog post with that info too. I’m scheduled to return to Turkmenistan in October and also next year with @mylifesatraveltribe (sold out though, join the waitlist!) I never would have guessed I’d end up living on a vineyard and recalling @pacheca.group The Wine House as inspo for a future rental project!! These wine barrel rooms are in Portugal. Who thinks I should try to build some on our vineyard in Sardinia Italy? One of the bougiest hotel experiences is at @anantaramaiaseychelles ! The villas are beautiful but it was the 24/7 butler service that I can’t forget! The Seychelles was my 100th country, and they brought me enough wine bottles to write out the number in my private jacuzzi! One of my all time favorites is @tulia_zanzibar 😻 it’s one of the most beautiful, thoughtfully designed, sustainable resorts I’ve experienced, AND it has a water slide!   • Yes, that is a real, wild Crocodile. Yes, I swam with him (several times) Would you dare? This is Panchito the Crocodile, he lives alone in Casa Cenote which is close to Tulum. Crocs are not commonly found in cenotes (pronounced “seh-note-ay” and are deep fresh water reserves throughout the Yucatán peninsula ) and no one is really sure how he got there. Panchito is allegedly “friendly”, but it’s more like “unbothered until provoked”. Recently for the first time ever Panchito attacked a swimmer because some unintelligent people were throwing rocks at him to try to provoke a reaction for a video 😡 Even this last time when I was there, while I was freediving in the cenote, other tourists were loud and slashing at Panchito, causing him to interrupt his tanning session, jump into the water, and dive under the mangroves until the people were gone (I watched all of it and was honestly a bit scared when he came swimming towards me underwater). Anyway! If you want a unique wildlife experience, check out Casa Cenote but do not disturb Panchito!!! Or any wildlife! Animal karma is real! I had a big dream to get paid to travel the world, and to normalize solo female travel, and once I succeeded, I kept going. Today I am not only a travel influencer, but also a humanitarian, animal activist, a trailblazer, an author, speaker, writer, entrepreneur and…one of the most experienced solo female travelers in the world. So far I’ve been to over 150 countries (off the 197 list), all 7 continents (Antarctica 4x), and I average 20 countries per year. Now I’m going bigger. I’m launching a travel show, more speaker events, writing another book, and I’ve started the Travel Tribe Foundation to give back through my group trips. I thought I was going to shipwreck trying to get to an existing shipwreck in the Solomon Islands…and I was traveling solo with just a fisherman driving me on his small boat. 😳 But! We made it, even with a massive storm approaching, and I experienced one of the most incredible “my life’s a travel movie” moments in my 12 years of continuous solo traveling!! I truly felt like I was in a movie! The ship is an old cruise ship that hit rocks and slowly sank as it washed ashore on Roderick’s Bay. It’s only half sunk, so you can swim around it (it’s super creepy and dangerous, don’t do it alone), and since it’s completely unregulated, you can also climb it and zip line into the water (also dangerous, can’t recommend) The angle of the ship also created one of the most vibrant marine sanctuaries I’ve seen in a while, with lots of actual colorful coral and fish (including clown fish!) I went to Solomon Islands after my second trip to Papua New Guinea, on my quest to slow solo travel to every country in the world. Would I go back to the shipwreck? Probably not. That boat ride was terrifying. But I’d go back to see more of the islands in the Solomon’s, there’s so many! Would you brave the ride to get to this shipwreck? D. R. Congo and Silverback Gorillas both have reputations for being extremely dangerous, and that’s true, to an extent. But hear me out. First a disclaimer: I am one of the most experienced solo female travelers in the world, and I also have a degree in Animal Science plus extensive experience with wild animals. All of my animal encounters are ethical, researched, and done with professionals. My goal is to promote responsible animal tourism that actually benefits and protects the animals, Don’t try to do any of them on your own! Ok so the Mountain Gorillas! Yes, they can be extremely dangerous! However, many of them have been socialized, and are therefore accepting of human visitors (and very curious) Gorilla trekking tourism is what protects these beautiful animals, because it generates more money to have them alive, so it forces the govs and other orgs to implement strict rules and anti-poaching efforts! In fact, these gorillas were almost poached to extinction before trekking became popular, and now most of the trackers (people paid to find the gorillas to trek to) are former poachers! I’ve gone gorilla trekking 5 times and it’s always a safe and beautiful experience (the trek is difficult though and can be up to 8 hours through thick jungle) Now about D.R. Congo…. Shortly after my first solo travels there, Virunga National Park closed and remains closed due to armed conflict with rebel groups..: I still went to visit Goma several more times, and I truly love Congo, but I will be waiting with anticipation for the safety to increase, because the gorillas in DRC were my top favorite see! I have a “bucketlist tattoo” that I add to when I complete a major bucketlist check! This one was a double check: seeing a wild Polar Bear and reaching my farthest latitude north (so far): 82 degrees North! For reference, the geographic North Pole is at 90 degrees North, so we were very close to it! Maybe one day I’ll reach it! There’s only one tattoo shop in Longyearbyen, therefore it’s officially the northernmost tattoo shop! And I also have tattoos from the Southernmost tattoo shop in Ushuaia for my 4 trips to Antarctica! Anyone else have cool tattoos? ——————- For anyone new here: Hi! This is my 3rd year being an American living on a vineyard in Italy (married the owner!) and I def have a lot of tea/wine to spill about it 😂 People have this dreamy or glamorous “Emily in Rome”-esque idea about traveling to Italy, falling in love, preferably with someone who owns a vineyard, and living happily ever after…well I did that, and it can be a bit more “difficile vita” than “dolce vita” at times! I’ve swam with Orcas, a crocodile, and my for-fun hobby is shark diving, but I draw the line at poisonous swimming snakes. 🙅‍♀️🐍 It really just came up to me like that when I was sitting on the beach on an island in New Caledonia! I had been contemplating going swimming with the turtles nearby, but changed my mind after I saw this! This was a “Blake-banded Sea Krait”, common to this area in the South Pacific Islands, I’ve heard several divers say they’ve seen them! But no thanks, I prefer sharks. 😂 Animal safety tip: as an experienced animal encounteress, i never ever suggest provoking or trying to “fight off” any dangerous animal that isn’t actively trying to attack you. Stay calm and still and let it pass like I did in this video. Then, feel free to run. (Jk I’d still suggest carefully and slowly backing a way, keeping an eye on it). Yes, that is a real, wild Crocodile. Yes, I swam with him (several times) Would you dare? This is Panchito the Crocodile, he lives alone in Casa Cenote which is close to Tulum. Crocs are not commonly found in cenotes (pronounced “seh-note-ay” and are deep fresh water reserves throughout the Yucatán peninsula ) and no one is really sure how he got there. Panchito is allegedly “friendly”, but it’s more like “unbothered until provoked”. Recently for the first time ever Panchito attacked a swimmer because some unintelligent people were throwing rocks at him to try to provoke a reaction for a video 😡 Even this last time when I was there, while I was freediving in the cenote, other tourists were loud and slashing at Panchito, causing him to interrupt his tanning session, jump into the water, and dive under the mangroves until the people were gone (I watched all of it and was honestly a bit scared when he came swimming towards me underwater). Anyway! If you want a unique wildlife experience, check out Casa Cenote but do not disturb Panchito!!! Or any wildlife! Animal karma is real!
