5 Ways Valentine’s Day is Better in LA

Valentine’s Day sucks. No one can win on Valentine’s Day. If you’re in a relationship, chances are one of you are getting anxiety wondering what the other is planning or getting, and will end up getting pissed if expectations aren’t fulfilled. If you’re just dating, you’re probably freaking out because this is  going to determine if you’re exclusive or not. And if you’re not in a relationship or dating, you’re wondering why the hell you’re not and will result in getting hammered and swiping on Tinder. Well…not in LA (minus that last part).

Since the majority of people in LA are single, relationship-challenged, and not giving one f*ck about it, it’s actually the ideal place to be for Valentine’s Day. Like most irrelevant holidays, we, the people, of LA, look at this “holiday” as an excuse to throw raging pool parties, cocktail parties, and other such obnoxious notions to publicize that we all, in fact, are single.

We’re not opposed to relationships…it’s just that when you’re trying to chase your dreams, you have to swipe left to be successful.

So here’s why Valentine’s Day is better in LA

1. We’re All the “Black Sheep”

Yes, we are the ones at the family Christmas party or college friend’s wedding that are still single. Seems weird when you’re in any other city…except LA. In LA, it’s the norm. In fact, if you weren’t a Black Sheep here, you wouldn’t fit in. People don’t move to LA to get married and have babies…they move here to accomplish their goals. Their BIG goals.

2. We Love Each Other SO MUCH

So much so that there’s a good chance that we see our friends on a daily basis, and if we don’t, we freak out…and die. We love each other so much that the first people we think about for Valentine’s Day festivities are our friends, and what we’re going to do to celebrate our love for each other. Which usually results in really fun, stress-free activities.

3. LA Loves Us Back

There’s just something about LA that when you wake up in the morning and look at the blue, cloudless sky, that really makes you feel like LA loves you as much as you love it. It seems like it’s always a perfect 70 degrees and sunny. Who needs someone to love you on Valentine’s Day when you have LA to love you?

4. That Means…POOL PARTIES!

Since the weather is always better, we have a tendency to have pool parties whenever possible. As in…I’m pretty sure that we have more pool parties than any other city in the world on a yearly basis. Oh, it’s Valentine’s Day! Let’s have a pool party! That’s right. Whether you’re in a “relationship” or not, the majority of people are going to pool parties regardless. It’s just another excuse to drink and socialize.

5. It’s the PERFECT Excuse to Meet People

Talk about the ultimate single mingle! Everyone’s always complaining that they never meet any single people, well just go to one of the many “Valentine’s Day” parties and you’ll meet everyone on Tinder in real life!
